Posted on 01 February 2009 by Matt Turvey

Like every single other two-bit sporting website, these authoritative ‘rankings’ are really little more a subjective listing of each team’s relative position - based on either the current Standings, the recent play of each team or the whim of the individual sportswriter - that are essentially worthless, argumentative and go out of date as soon as they’re written…

So what are you waiting for?

Posted on 01 December 2008 by Matt Turvey

It was around a decade ago when ESPN first launched a wonderful and original concept called NBA Power Rankings.  Anyone could see that this was little more than a subjective listing of each team’s relative position - based on either the current Standings, the recent play of each team or the whim of the individual sportswriter - that are essentially worthless, argumentative and go out of date as soon as they’re written.  They’re a joke, really.

So, with the 2008/09 season reaching the 1st December, it’s about time desipio.com got into the act.  How hard can it be to get a dump of all NBA teams with a little pithy sentence or statistic accompanying each one?

nbaWelcome to Part 2 of desipio.com’s 2008 NBA offseason reference guide.

NBA 2008 Free Agent Primer – A to M

Posted on 16 July 2008 by Matt Turvey

nba.comIt’s the NBA Offseason, the time of dastardly free agent deals, lop-sided trades and irrelevant summer-league tourneys.

And, happily for wanna-be sportswriters the world over, it’s also the time where the most authoritative, or most opinionated, NBA journalists take a vacation. This creates a gap in the market for comprehensive team-by-team analyses of current free agents and future roster possibilities.

Here are the first 15 teams – from Atlanta to Miami.

There are 4 teams – the Lakers, the Rockets, the Spurs and the Hornets – all within 1½ games of each other at the top of the West Standings, whilst Golden State remain locked in an epic struggle for the final playoff seed with Dallas (1 game ahead) and Denver (2½ games behind).

This situation backgrounds our look into the league this week as we focus on 2 players and 2 teams that had a standout past 7 days;
