Javier Baez may not make the Chicago Cubstinks this year, but boy is he hitting them today in Arizona

My son in Japan only gets to see games that have a Japanese interest involved, so he watched the Cubs' split squad play a Japanese team.  On Skype yesterday he said that he had only two words for me,  "Javier Baez'.

IMHO Keri Russell bears a striking resemblance to one of the most beautiful women who ever lived, Lee Remick.

Honestly, this show is proving to be surprisingly boring.

Incorrect opinion. This last episode was a bit slower but overall this has been a really good show. I guess you're just not equipped to enjoy HIGHBROW entertainment, you meatball.

<retires to office to fap to Nina>

I've watched every episode so far. But the show hasn't really grabbed me to the point where I can't wait to see what happens next week. Which is disappointing for something with such high body and side-boob-and-nude-butt counts.

How long can they really flog the "my marriage started out fake but maybe now it's real" theme?

And how many weird Yetiphile subplots should we expect when all's said and done?

Don't sweat it.   There is no such thing as an "incorrect opinion".  Dumb, maybe, but not incorrect.

APRIL FOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Yankees have asked first baseman Derrek Lee if he would come out of retirement and join the team as Mark Teixeira's replacement.

a) I love me some Art Goddamn Mullen

b) Limehouse... Holy shit

"First thing we are gonna do is we are going to acknowledge that this guy is awesome!"

"He shoots Theo Tonin, fakes his own death in a spectacular fashion, pushes a guy out of an air plane WHILE he is flying it, parachutes into Harlan county with enough coke and cash to jump start the economy of a small country.  And then he has the BALLS to get a job in law enforcement, not once but two times.  He spends a couple of days riding around with you while you're looking for him.  And now he's run off with a hooker that's half his age.  That's some bad ass shit."

If Art does eventually retire, I'd totally watch a spin-off about he and his wife driving around in their RV solving crimes.

Also, Wynn Duffy has a sleep mask.  Because of course he does.

"Oh balls."
The scene of Art acknowledging Shelby/Drew's greatness was itself great.
Did you notice how much altruism and empathy was demonstrated in this episode?  Shelby twice trying to save Ellen May.  Boyd and his girlfriend trying to play Solomon in deciding whether to give Ellen May a chance to survive, even if she spits in their faces.  Ellen May trying to save Shelby's life.  Wynn Duffy suggesting to his flunky that he get out of town to save his life.  The writing and plotlines of this show are too good for TV.

Anyone watching this? It's kind of disturbing for a network show.

Bloody.  Sadistic.  Creepy.  It is 24 without the clock and Keifer Sutherland.

Now that we're a ways in I have to say this is the worst goddamn show I've ever seen. I'm going to finish watching it but it could easily be MST3k'd and I'd laugh a lot.

Fucking terrible, terrible show.

Yet I am sure that there are people who think that it is a great work of art.  I would be concerned if I knew any of those people.

...I had a nightmare last night.  The Astros won their division in their first season in the Amercian League, and the Cubs finished in the same place they finished last year.

Quote
The score was a continuous succession: Italy with the formula of "two at a time" took the lead (2-0), recovered (4-4) is back in the (4-5) and thanks to the double (let's say even a little lucky with the ball drop at the climax of the exterior Gonzalez) Anthony Rizzo, Chicago Cubs first baseman of the Sicilian blood such as grandparents, in the ninth inning set the score at 6-5 and then well defended the last desperate attack of the Mexicans, who had the entire audience in favor for obvious reasons. But this Italy has had more heart, has nver given up, shook and leapt at the end because he has fiercely believed in this company.

I was half-expecting to be asked to give my bank account information by the end of that recap.

I feel like there are several depressing, Oscar-winning film titles in that recap:

"Climax of the Exterior Gonzalez"

"Last Desperate Attack of the Mexicans"

"Blood Such as Grandparents"

last desperate attack of the Mexicans is the best thing I've read

Pretty sure Blood Such As Grandparents is the newest Neurosis album title.

I'm assuming whoever wrote this is the Phil Rogers of Italy.

ball drop at the climax of the exterior Gonzalez (||)

I've been laughing at this for a solid fifteen minutes now.
This made my day.
If a movie named "Zero Dark Thirty" can be a commercial success then any and all of the above will work.

A very interesting plot twist.  I can believe that a spy cell would intimidate their own if they suspect that the spies are turning.  But if the spies retaliate don't they demonstrate that they can no longer be trusted?  What now? Do they try to  run?  Do they become double agents?  Do they become even more outlaw than they already are?  (I can't imagine why they threw in the (almost) kidnapping of the kids.)

I think they just wanted to show kids the dangers of hitchhiking. The guy they found to play the creepy hitchhiker couldn't have played it more brilliantly. He was, in fact, quite creepy.

It will be interesting going forward, the mistrust between the 2 main characters. And what will happen to them after she beat the crap out of the older lady they report to. At some point, I'm guessing the FBI neighbor finds out about them and they start working as double agents.

Or double secret triple agents where the FBI neighbor thinks that they're working for him, but really they're not!
Or one of them is but the other isn't but believes that the other isn't and that one believes that the other is.  My  head hurts.

SCORPIONS!!!!!!!!!    Has there been a horror movie about them?   Think about it every time you put your shoes on in the morning.  Is there one of those little bastards nestled in the toe of that shoe?

Interesting: "We both know whose voice it is tellin' you to do what you do."

Here are lawmen on the wrong side of the law. Using their power for their own ends pretending to be what they never were. The difference between Shelby and Hunter and Raylan seems to be that they know they're fakes and Raylan still clings to some Justification for bending the shit out of the rules.

Anybody else think those blows to Shelby's Hunter's head after his botched suicide were truly meant for Arlo?

Probaby.

And I enjoyed Raylan's tale of Arlo's deathbed redemption.

Something strange occured during the roadside scene between Raylan and Hunter.  There was a brief (you missed it if you blinked) shot of Raylan standing next to his car that was completely out of the temporal flow of the scene.  This is not film with frames that can be edited, so somehow there was a digital glitch.  Or was there?

...The Single Greatest Thread Ever was never that good to begin with.

...I thought that the single greatest thread was the greatest because if you couldn't find somewhere else to post something that didn't warrant opening a new thread, that was the place to put it.

It's ok, Stew. It's not your fault. We'll call one of your kids to pick you up.

Let me know which one you call so I don't get the name wrong.

Ours or theirs?

Either?

My own.
