Have you actually listened to Grace very much? He's not as good as you think.
This is very true. He's been saddled with bad partners and has gotten better, but great he ain't. I'm surprised anyone thinks he's good. So who do you want in perfect Slaky word of positive? I'm just looking for solutions that might make some sense, because I will jump out of my moving car if I have to listen to another season of Santo. I will agree that Grace is not awesome...but I think he's passable. Again, I also think it's 10x easier for the Cubs to shove Santo out if they can replace him with someone who brings a little more "warm and fuzzies" to the Kool-Aid drinkers that have been propping up Santo. I just don't think Moreland or Otto get that job done. Whether or not we like it, this situation is a bit more complicated because of the people and PR sensitivity involved. Tis all I'm saying. I nominate Slaky himself, just so I can hear someone call Ryan Braun 39 different varieties of "douche" on-air. You underestimate Slak's versatility in this particular area. Guys, slow down - I'm just too enamored with my current position. There's no way life can get any better than this. So I'll have to withdraw my name from consideration at this time. That said, LDA you and I and everyone else here, whether we love, hate or are indifferent to Ron Santo as a broadcaster, must realize the only thing that's going to eject him from the booth permanently is the bony hand of the reaper. I'll be honest, that sucks. Ron Santo has dealt with a lot of shit. Does that mean we should enjoy listening to him scream through entire Cub games? No, that's up to you. The guy is going to die, probably sooner than later. And you'll have a new guy in the booth with Pat soon enough. |

Not that Steve Stone would take the time to read anything regarding his performance as Chicago's foremost pompous jackass, but I'd like to see Dolan take him on in the next dose. Time to see if we can register on his radar.

Does anyone know of a good bar (or restaurant) in the loop that has a good collection of single malt? Preference is for something west loop, by Ogilvie. Thanks.
I'm in Glasgow right now and just had a couple wonderful drinks. A Glenmorangie Cellar 13 and then the complete opposite, an Islay whisky, Laphroaig. Delicious. I'm hammered. |

Where is all the good Obama news of him saving the United States and the world? You would think with him fixing everything you guys would be chugging on his dick 24/7 about how awesome he is over Bush.
My guess is with the Stimulus turning out to be a real turd, cap and trade talk, another turd trying to be forced down your throats in Health Care Reform, The IG scandals, the government ownership of car companies (sales down 22%, like no one saw that coming), massive tax increases looming, and Obama's bold faced lies about how he was going to run a more open and transparent government compared to Bush, there just isn't a whole lot of good news coming out from Obama world.
I will be watching to see if Obama has the stones to say "We Rescued the Economy" tonight. Lets see the stimulus was supposed to create 3 million jobs and cap unemployement from rising above 8%. Its above 9.5% and the economy has lost 3 million jobs.
But hey lets fear monger about health care tonight and try to convince the American people about another bill you have no idea whats in again, i am sure things will turn out just as good. Just lather on its all Bush's fault, throw in a catchy change/hope slogan, lie to peoples faces and they will come back and vote for you again.
The only thing stopping this country from going down the failed route of free health care is those Blue Dog Democrats who actually look to be standing firmly in the way of this. The first side to show a real spine against Obama is a small block of Democrats, good for them.
Wait...who's doing the fear-mongering about health care? I liked the part where MikeC said that change is a catchy slogan then says the plan to change health care is a turd. That was well done. |
