Whenever people complain that "nobody talks about baseball on this site anymore", I'm just going to link them back to this thread.

Especially once there's enough other guys around him to the point where he knows the offense doesn't have to fall to him or Rozzi every day.

Yeah, that's not a real thing.

When's Rozzi going to start hitting?

Hopefully after Slorer, Beza, Amlaro, Vobelgach and other reinforcements get here.

Many Szczvs and Vuuttrs knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slorer that day, I can tell you!

Trevor Bolder, bassist for the Spiders From Mars

I'm ashamed of that pun.

Ali was really delighted that Ken was doing a real tap move. I was really excited the show was doing real speedfreak paranoia.

Lefthander, pitching his ass off, one year deal.

Don't get attached.

You watch a lot of baseball huh

I think Fork meant the guy is very sellable come July and that he could fetch something righthanded.

Also: you can never have too much pitching.

You need to establish he run to setup the playaction

Anyway.  What do you guys think about Jim Deshaies so far?

Vanilla has never been my favorite flavor.

I don't have a problem with DeShaies so far.  I get the impression that he's easing himself into the role - which Borb did too, if you remember.  DeShaies seems to know his onions and isn't grating on me.  You can call it vanilla if you like but if the alternative is somebody like Chip fucking Caray, give me vanilla every time.  I think he will be fine.

Endorsed.

More of a buzzfeed parody, but the subject matter is positively Gil.

I know it doesn't matter at all but the Cubs are only one game behind Milwaukee and the White Sox record-wise. If they were to finish ahead of either I'd laugh.

Since the Cubs are going to suck anyway, I'd rather they suck spectacularly and get better draft picks for next season. We'll have plenty of time for guffaws in a couple years.

Fine with me. But I won't not laugh if the above happens.

I must say that I don't disagree with what Apex doesn't not say here.

Let's see how this plays out.

Would you mind trotting that joke out about 70 more times?

Nope.

Not even a little bit.

I also think if Rose had come back a month ago and worked himself into normal game shape, the Bulls would have had a legitimate shot in this series.

I really don't think so.  I think Miami's playing down to their level a bit and if this team had Rose and Deng playing the Heat would up their game.  Still might take 6, though.

They beat a much better Bulls team with a healthy Rose et al. in five games two years ago. And that was before they had Allen, Cole, Andersen or Battier. It was also before they developed their offense to the point it's at now. I don't know how people reasonably think the Bulls would beat them then or now.

I said they would have had a shot with Rose, not that they would totally, definitely win.

Also, I've been thinking about it and I'm not sure that Bulls team was better two years ago. Noah has improved a ton in two years and Jimmy Butler is clearly an upgrade over that Bogans/Brewer combo they were trotting out. And Nate Robinson can actually provide offense off the bench, which is something the 2011 team didn't have.

Makes the comments by Reggie Rose (and, um, me) from earlier this season look dumb.

They really did have depth though, which would seem to prevent the decimation of the roster we've seen this year. And they had Asik back before anybody thought he was worth a shit. C.J. Watson... I guess their defensive system is two years advanced from where it was then. Still, they had the best record in the league, for what that's worth. You may be right.

But now this team will continue to get treated like the Heat's mother-in-law and eventually Miami will have to stoop to their level to let them know what total shitheads they are. See: Dexter Pittman/Lance Stephenson, Udonis Haslem/Tyler Hansbrough or hopefully LeBron Cobradick/Jason Terry. It's coming. Once this thing is in the refrigerator a head or two is going to roll.

This is probably a great vindication for you, after you spent all those years following those terrible Heat teams.

Also, it would suck to be a Heat fan, if such a thing actually existed.

Eli, what about those long-suffering oh who am I kidding, I can't even begin to finish this sentence without laughing.

... I hadn't the slightest notion that Tennessee Williams was gay.

GTFO, Wheezer.

I knew he was gay before I knew ANYTHING else about him. Like, what he actually did for a living.

I returned a TV this morning because it was too big.

It wouldn't be so bad if your son didn't sit a foot away from it.

DPD.  I really wanted Keith Moreland to be good.  He was one of my favorite players on the '84 Cubs and Santo set the bar so low in the booth I was looking forward to Zonk, but I can't take it anymore.  He's totally unlistenable and somehow seems to be getting worse.

I liked last night when he pronounced Sam LeCure's last name as "liqueur."

Today he pronounced it "La Crew".

Everyone knows it's pronounced "LeBlah".
