That's better than Argentina Turner Overdrive.

The above comment should in no way be interpreted as an endorsement of Jack Black or any of his shit.

Are you thinking of "Kathleen Turner Overdrive", Kerm?

I must say I like my team. A little short on speed, maybe need one more power hitter, but still I give my draft a solid A-. I definitely think I will be more than competitive against the league. Good luck to all, you'll need it!

They use real grape flavor here.

That's highly significant.

From your friendly, neighborhood Monday morning qb:

I still find it hard to believe I just spent a week in the middle of a war zone. They don't sell tickets for the experience of a lifetime, but if you can do it somehow, I'd highly recommend it.

Geez, Peter King.  I have no idea how someone could get to Afghanistan these days.  TEC...RTI...you guys know?

He made it almost all the way through the first page without writing something completely retarded.

Their captain, Staff Sgt. James Anderson

Seriously, its not that hard to look up our rank structure.  It takes about 10 seconds with a search engine.  If this is any indication, I'm afraid to venture beyond the first page.

What's there to look up, Maj. Pvt. TEC?

I suppose you've never heard of Cpl. Cpt. Walter O'Reilly, huh?

I'm still working on Mrs. Kerm.  On CONVINCING Mrs. Kerm.  To come.  To come TO THE ROOFTOP GAME.  You guys are fucking sick.

You're the one with avatar.

Just because you can't figure out how to put up an avatar, don't blame me.

He is a lazy sonuvabitch.

I can't disagree.

Which isn't to say you don't disagree. You just lack the energy and wherewithal to do so strenuously.

What about Bacon flavored beer?

I've already covered bacon whiskey, sir.
10  General Category / Desipio Lounge / Re: Bacon Cups on: February 29, 2008, 12:58:29 PM

It really is. I want to buy a pork belly immediately. Maybe stare it at for a bit. Watch TV with it. Just lovely.

Sounds like it's Desipio picnic time.

Slaky can make the bacon, Kermit and TDubbs can brew the beer, and... Bacon and beer? I think that's pretty much all we'd need.

(Unless Oleg is rocking some homegrown in a secret closet somewhere.)

Truly inspiring.

Mrs.Drinky gifted me a year's subscription to the Bacon of the Month club a couple of years ago.  Pretty pricey for what you get (which is why I didn't renew it), but still nice to get a pound or so of sweet bacon in the mail once a month.

Bacon of the month?  How many different kinds of bacon are there that there needs to be a club?

You would receive a package from a different smokehouse once a month.  Each smokehouse has their own take/specialty.  Sometimes it would be an applewood smoked bacon, some were more peppery, etc.  It was like the microbrew beer of the month, only with delicious pork.

How pricey was it?

Because delicious bacon delivered to your door sounds like it could be worth at least a decent premium.

Bacon.  Eating.  Contest.  On the other hand it's in Des Moines.

Yeah... RedBeard's already tried to convince people to venture out to the Cheesecake Factory Des Moines' own El Bait Shop & High Life Lounge for this deal back here:

Hey Dusty, you really hate walks huh?
Quote
"Who have been the champions the last seven, eight years? Have you ever heard the Yankees talk about on-base percentage and walks? . . . Walks help. They do help. But you aren’t going to walk across the plate, you’re going to hit across the plate. That’s the school I come from."

Oh. My. God.

The Red Sox have won 2 of the last 4 WSes, and they walk a lot.

That may be, Mr. Long.

But they don't go around talking about it all the time, now, do they?

Manager Ned Yost has said for a week that he has a brain-full of ideas when it comes to his batting order, but it is way too early to commit to any one of them.

But one of the most interesting of possible orders would have Ryan Braun batting second, a pitcher batting eighth and catcher Jason Kendall batting ninth. This idea isn't set yet, and it may not ever be used. It is just one of a flurry of ideas whizzing around inside the skipper's head. St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa has done this some during the last few seasons.

Yost's reasoning is that he wants Braun to have more plate apperances, but still be able to have guys on in front of him. So with Kendall's ability to see pitches and get on base, it would essentially translate to Braun still batting third while racking up about 40 more plate appearances, as stats show. In this lineup, Prince Fielder would bat third in the order, but it would be like having him in the clean-up slot.

"Common sense tells me you want your best hitters to have the most at-bats," Yost said.

For a more detailed explanation of the theory, check out our spring training notebook in tomorrow's JS.

Just keep following that common sense of yours Ned. I hope it tells you to use Turd Throw a lot this year.

I'm just giddy for the more detailed explanation of this complicated theory. Oh boy!

I don't know... All this crazy math is making my head hurt.

So, what he's trying to say is, the ninth batter bats before the second? Wha?!

I was just getting my mind wrapped around Phil Rogers' system, now this?
