Jose Macias.  Is there anything he can't do?

I'm not sure what his best position is...what position is someone in when they're halfway down after being tossed off Sears Tower?

Starting third baseman and lead off man for St. Louis.  We could get a urina cake for him, if we pick up the rest of his contract.

Any truth to the rumor that he was the Nomar's groin tendon donor?

I really don't get all the Macias trashing that goes on in here. You'd think he was the worst bench player this team has ever had or something like that. Yes, he's the last man on the bench but that said, he is a switch hitter who can play seven different postions. He's not Neifi Perez but come on he's not Troy O'Leary either.

Actually, I'd take Mrs. O'Leary over the Gremlin.

However, Macias is better than the rotting corpse of Lenny Harris, I'll give you that.

I forgot about Troy O'Leary (but not Lenny Harris, unfortunately), how in the HELL did that 2003 team make the postseason?

That '03 team had Alex S. Gonzalez starting and the Damian Miller/Paul Bako tag team behind the plate. Shawn Estes, Antonio Alfonseca, Dave Veres... all of whom are worse than Jose Macias who hit the popup that nobody caught in Puerto Rico in a game I thought the Cubs HAD to WIN. Because they signed him in the offseason, and Moises Alou two years prior I thought that any player who gets a Twilight Zone hit to bury the Cubs in a pennant chase game would somehow be on the roster the next year so that it would NEVER happen again. Remember the ball Moises hit off the "8" in Houston that bounced up into the seats?

But alas, Luis Castillo is still in Florida.

But pick a new whipping boy, guys. I nominate Burnitz and will contribute to any thread dedicated to running him out of town on a rail that you guys can dream up. Let's get serious, now. ~ AP

As a point of clarification, the Cubs actually TRADED for Macias.  A certain Wilton Chavez was deemed tradeworthy for the Gremlin.

So you're defending  that shitstain Macias and then aiming your guns for Beer Nutz?  Are you daft?

What's the beef with Burnitz?  He's hitting .272 and on pace for 33 homers and 150 K's, which is about what we all projected him for (except the average is a little higher).

Possibly. Why does Mr. Three-Ks-per-game get a pass and the harmless Macias gets lit up like the 4th of July in here? Burnitz is the baldheaded Alex Gonzalez without the occasional clutch homerun. Yeah, they play different postions, but my god!

I think Macias gets trashed more than Burny because y'all are secretly racist.
