Ah, yes. And Fred McGriff (que Fork in 5,4,3,2...) wanted to stay in Tampa. How'd that work out for everyone?

Sure, he wants to stay here. He has a no trade clause built into the contract. He has a no trade clause as well from the CBA. But what he has is some power. Arte Moreno better start stacking some cheddar for DLee. All desperate owners do.

I predict:

1) Ryan Theriot, Derrek Lee, Carlos Silva, Ryan Dempster, Kosuke and Marlon Byrd will all have new mailing addresses next week.

2) Ted Lilly can still bury the bodies on the old Yum Yum Donuts site.

I heard last week that Hendry has been doing the asskiss of the century over the last month or so--that he's been telling anyone willing to listen that he didn't want to sign those huge deals for Soriano, Z, et. al., but that the Tribune company made him do it.  Apparently, its been borderline embarrassing.  Now he comes out and says "don't blame me, Derrek doesn't want to move and he has those 10/5 rights, you know."

Given that he's never said anything about player movement before and has never been willing to throw players under the bus, is this announcement by Hendry just another notch in his "honest man, none of this is my fault!" routine?

Finally, Good, Probably not, ok, please, and why?

(EDIT: Changed stance on Dempster. Numbers have been progressively worse from 08-10)

This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

I don't know why Jim Hendry never trades for hitters.

I think he traded Fontenot for one like a week ago and they also got DeWitt. So by never you must have meant this week or whatever.

From Mark Bowman's MLB.com story:

Quote
The Braves didn't have to part ways with Julio Teheran, Mike Minor or any of the other young pitchers that they consider to be in their "elite prospect" category, as they sent right-handed pitchers Robinson Lopez and Tyrelle Harris and left-handed pitcher Jeffrey Lorick to Chicago.

I can't believe the Braves didn't part with any of their top prospects for a month of a half of Derrek Lee with a gimpy back.

Mike Minor is in their current starting rotation for Atheismo's sake.

Bowman must have this idea in his head that Cubs fans have unrealistic expectations in trades.  How odd.
