I think the consensus top three in the city are probably: Smoque (Irving Park), Honey 1 (Wicker Park/Bucktown) and Uncle John's (South Side)

I can, indeed, vouch for both - aside from the fact that it's not BBQ, what the fuck is wrong with Big Star?  Quite apart from the delicious tacos, the company there was outstanding.

Just been away for a couple of weeks in Bavaria, which was fantastic.  I'm going to retire there.  No BBQ, but plenty of Obatzda, Brez'n and Kaesepaeztle - and, of course, Bavarian beer.  Still, I miss Chicago, and you guys.  Can I come back?
