1994 was the year my folks moved to Chicago and I decided to live the rest of my years in misery as a Cubs fan.

Thanks to all you morans for helping me pass the time these last 3 and a half years.

That said, I'm staying, and Chipper's staying with me.
We just wanted to stop by and pay our respects to a time-honored tradition.

I'm still jealous that you graduated early from high school and got to just hang by yourself all summer at Cubs game as a 17 year old.

The revenge is that the Cubs sucked ass in '94 and even if you liked baseball you had nothing to watch after early August.  What were thinking hitching your star to this wagon?

Nice choice, Pen.

1908 seems like way too many for this team.

Well it took awhile, but I finally was a Moran enough times to retire the name (but think I'm going to keep it).  Only took 57 days of being here.

A quick story about the nick.  As many of you know I grew up in South Florida in the '70s and '80, a time when the only pro team in the area was the Miami Dolphins, and pro baseball was played in February and March.  Well, the town was as provincial as you would think, and so the sports report on the 11:00 news always mentioned local boys who were making good elsewhere.  One of those people was Miamian Andre Dawson (I for a while actually thought his name was Miamian) who was then with the Expos.  I started following Dawson, which led me to following the Cubs.  That and a trip to the bleachers in September of 1986 when I started school here, and I was hooked, dammit.

Anyway, good to hang in purgatory with all you degenerates.

But I still think it's gross to have ever rooted for the Dolphins, Barry.

I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

1979 was when I got roped into this shit.  Long live Steve Dillard.

I hate the Cubs, and each and every one of you.

This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

I'm told that it's out of fashion now to do a 1908 post, but I like to talk, so I intend to do so. I'm not retiring my name anyways, since this isn't a moniker so much as it is a god damn brand name.

I've said it before in other circles, but I first came to Ol' Desipio back in the days when doses were daily, RV still wore his "In Dusty We Trusty" t-shirt, and I found the site when, in frustration with another of his pathetic days at the plate, I angrily googled "Paul Bako" thinking somebody must have hated the guy as much I did. I found Andy's Bak-o-meter and I was hooked. A few years later my friend and I were discussing Robert Machado of all people and I found Kerm's b126 entry on FLP. Not long after that I started shoutboxing once I was a college freshman and blogging seemed a perfectly nerdy thing to do. The message board came last, in 2008. So for three years now I've been hanging out with you yokels and warming my way into your hearts. In that time we've all suffered the bitter disappointment of the 2008 Cubs, suffered through the disillusioning process that ended in all of us but Yeti realizing Milton Bradley was just a batshit crazy bag of douche, ardently defended Jay Cutler from jackasses like PenFoe, and tirelessly campaigned for the fire barning of Jeff Samardzija. Sure, some of you tried to help me kill myself through alcohol poisoning in January, but I survived even if Oleg's bathroom has seen better days. All in all, this place is undoubtedly the best way I've found to occupy my time until the working day is done. So for that, I thank you. In honor of all the time I've wasted here, I shall now repost my greatest work:

this cuaker. he can fuckin adie. god daymint. stupid jaime hendry and his fuackin stpid conta`ts. god damn it why cant he jus die. stupiad smardizja. poeace of shit. god daanit. woud be 8-1 qwiothout that fuackeer. sonmbutch. asssshoe.e

Funny story - I actually signed off my voicemail message with "In Dusty We Trusty" during the 2003 playoffs.

And by "funny story" I mean "story that makes me want to douse a pile of manure with kerosene and jump into it"
