Want to know what we call cilantro?

You call that shitweed coriander, but here we like to distinguish between the seeds and the leaves.

JUPITER, Fla. (AP) - Cardinals' 20-game winner Adam Wainwright
has injured his throwing elbow and is returning to St. Louis to
have it examined by team doctors.
General manager John Mozeliak said Wednesday that "things do
not look encouraging" for the 2010 Cy Young runner-up based on the
initial evaluation by training staff. He said the right-hander
injured his elbow on the third to final pitch of Monday's bullpen
session.
Wainwright went 20-11 with a 2.42 ERA in 2010 in finishing
second in the Cy Young balloting to Philadelphia's Roy Halladay.

Club officials believe TJ surgery likely outcome re: Waino. Nothing definitive until today's appointment.

WAINO!

I'm assuming they're going to have to remove a ligament from his elbow to replace the hamstring in his leg.

Recovery from that surgery will be estimated at 12 months. He'll be off the DL in 2 weeks.

Morans, Maroons, what's the difference?    The following is from Wikipedia:

The Cubs (then known as the White Stockings) had had to secure a new property after 1884, and it took longer than anticipated. The season began on April 30, a month later than present day, in a 112-game schedule, 50 fewer games than today's major league schedule. The club spent the first five-plus weeks of the 1885 season on the road [1] and the park was finally opened on June 6 with a victory over the St. Louis Maroons, late of the Union Association. Despite being "wanderers" early in the season, the powerful Chicagos under player-manager Cap Anson, came home already sitting at 18-6.

Who could forget the Maroons' epic battle against the Gashouse Gorillas?

I know this has already been posted in that other dumb thread, but nothing makes Opening Day sweeter than a Ryan Franklin blown save.  (Brewers too, I guess.)

Also, that moron Dan McLaughlin is somehow still working for the Cardinals.  I guess the Tards' alcoholic culture lives on.

Edit: Three GIDPs on the day for DPLee Albert Pujols.

Edit 2: And a Theriot error sends the go-ahead run home in the 11th?  Can this get any better!

The Padres score the go-ahead run when Ryan Theriot Tisdales a throw from the short outfield.

I love it.
