I realize the Cubs gave up a lot for him and the timing was suspect but Matt Garza? I like him quite a bit.

Me too. My joyful positive from his acquisition has only become more joyful since.

Particularly when you note Chris Archer's 4.93 ERA and 1.663 WHIP and SAM FULD'S .663 OPS. Hack Julie is doing okay, but I think the Cubs are doing alright at the shortstop position.

"Plummer, in 1999, "contributed" 1,017 fewer yards to the Cardinals than the league average QB would have brought to the table. As far as modern seasons go, Plummer's '99 stands as the worst."

It's a shame Mike Quade keeps putting in relievers for Garza though. That big, bald fuck is singlehandedly dicking Garza out of the Cy Young with his mis-shapen penis hand. His other penis hand is fucking Tyler Colvin in the ass.

I don't know if this is DRLP anywhere, but apparently Soriano wasn't even aware that he had a no-trade clause.

Nice negotiating, Jim.

You're fucking kidding me. Good to see his stupidity isn't confined to the field.

Also:

"But general manager Jim Hendry vowed to be ‘‘aggressive’’ approaching the July 31 trading deadline and made it clear that every player not in the Cubs’ plans for next year and beyond is a candidate to be moved."

Translation: He's going to fuck the team up even worse before he gets the axe.

Dempster bitches about being taken out of a game.  So Quade leaves him in this one to throw 86 pitches in three innings, giving up 7 hits (including a triple and a whole bunch of doubles) and 6 runs.  Was Quade afraid that "Demp" was going to complain about not being permitted to go for a complete game?

"Chicago entered action Wednesday with 85 errors. The Oakland A's were second in the majors with 77.

"Mistakes are going to happen," Cubs manager Mike Quade said recently. "We have to clean them up the best we can."

Yes, I think that we can all agree with that.

Unfortunately, "the best we can" is actually pretty freaking bad.

Who do the Cubs need to keep?  Castro.  Soto.  Garza.  Marshall.  Marmol.  Wells, Barney and Cashner could probably play a part in a well put-together organisation (har har).  None of those players is going anywhere, and anybody else is surplus to requirements if they can be moved this month.  Where can Hendry fuck this up?  The only thing he can get wrong here is who he gets in return, and how much payroll he ends up eating.

Oh, I see what you mean.

Soto sucks.  Marmol sucks.  Keep Castro and tell everybody else to fuck off.  And you spelled organization wrong.

It wasn't Demp's fault anyway.

But after losing 9-1 to the Phillies on Wednesday on the hottest day of the year at Wrigley Field, manager Mike Quade lashed out at two of his youngest and most productive players, alleging a blown first inning popup "set the tone" for the loss.

The error set the tone for the loss, not the horseshit pitcher on the mound.

They're just jealous of the way Dempster keeps the clubhouse loose with his wacky hijinks and uproarious antics. Quade's the only one with the bald nuts to spit the truth.
