Prior weighs in on his latest throwing session:

Quote
Mark Prior threw a bullpen session this weekend at Petco Park and came away feeling good -- mentally as well as physically. But he can't project when he'll be able to pitch.

"I'm not alone," said Prior. "There is no rehab precedent for the type of surgery I had. I had a combination of a couple things done. It's about getting healthy. I want to get back into pitching situations. But if I'm not healthy, there are no more situations."

Neither Prior nor the Padres are talking in terms of June 1 anymore.

Is it petty to enjoy this?

No, because it just reinforces that $3.25 million of the Cubs cash was far better spent somewhere else on Reed Johnson.

Disagree.

petty
  (pĕt'ē) pronunciation

   3. Marked by meanness or lack of generosity, especially in trifling matters.

This is petty.  I have no generosity of spirit towards Prior and his health is a trifling concern to me.  His behavior has justifiably prompted a tendency towards meanness in me.

.. then much of my rancor stems from the stupidity I displayed by spending large on very good, scalped tickets to watch Mounsieur "Next Great Future HOF Cub" debut.  So, perhaps, I doth protest to much ... oh, how humiliating.

If Jim Hendry can enjoy it, why shouldn't you?

Trainer: I think your arm is broken, Mark.
Mark: [Sobs uncontrollably]
Trainer: But don't worry, I'm probably wrong.  I don't even have a license.

I have a clock that marks the hour with different recorded quotations from Homer Simpson.  My favorite is "Feelin' stupid?  I know I am."  That expresses my feeling about waitng for Mark Prior to become the "Franchise".
