I'm not sure if this is really up anybody's alley, but I found this Eric Hutchinson guy on Last.fm the other day and his music is pretty awesome.  I kind of doubt anyone here likes Jason Mraz, but he's probably the most comparable artist I can think of, although you can definitely tell he was influenced by Michael Jackson (<pedophile joke>). This song in particular is catchy as hell (can't find the album version):

I have news for you: you don't like music.

Oh, my bad.  Please, tell me what you like so I can like the same things.

I don't think you understand how this works.  Slaky can't like it if somebody else does.

We can't all be Bon Jovi superfans, CT.

Now, just what the crap is wrong with Bon Jovi?

Well to start, they're no Black Crowes.

Getting more and more into Two Cow Garage, their new album Speaking in Cursive is really good. Takes awhile to get used to his voice, but it's solid stuff. They are touring now with the Hold Steady. Similar to other bands I listen to a lot, Lucero, Drag the River, Glossary, Slobberbone.

The Antlers - Hospice.  Big ol' natural sweaty titties dipped in steak juice. I'm pretty sure I suck at these kinds of comparisons but I'd call it Arcade Fire combined with Explosions in the Sky and a bit of Bon Iver tossed in.

This comparison makes me want to download this album right now.

Gotta be in the right mood'd.

I'll also throw Local Natives in this thread.  Absolutely fantastic record, kind of a mix of Grizzly Bear, Yeasayer and an epically-stashed Freddy Mercury.

Good point - it gets pretty depressing. The next to last song (Wake) is epically awesome though.

I'll second the Local Natives recommendation too - great album. They're playing at Schuba's next month.

Just realized there's a new Besnard Lakes album out. This band is incredible - but I haven't given the new album a listen yet. It's called The Besnard Lakes are the Roaring Night.

New Drive By Truckers is $3.99 on amazon right now. Wish I could say it was worth much more, but it's not.
The song on the radio is the best song by far. They are still letting the girl sing, and she sounds worse on this album.
I used to love this band, not I'm pretty meh about their efforts. They should have never kicked Jason Isbell out of the band.
