I'm going to see Josh Ritter next week -- should be a pretty sweet show.  His new album is really good stuff.

OK, just a few quick ones to throw at you.

Plants and Animals - Parc Avenue

Sun Kil Moon - Apri

Foals - Antidotes

Also, the new Todd Barry comedy album is pretty funny. If you like jokes.

I just needed to chime in and say that the Plants and Animals album is tremendous.

In mexico, I kept hearing this jazz lounge music that I couldn't place, since I new all the lyrics while not ever hearing the songs.. found out the group (brazillian I think) covers old songs in a jazz/lounge format.. great stuff.. if anyone's interested,
check out the bossa n' roses (covers GNR), bossa n' stones (Stones) and bossa 'n marley (you get the point) albums on itunes.. good background music, ladies will enjoy it (even more than the JMIII)...

I have, it's like the last album.. good compared to most albums out there now, nowhere near as good as what they used to be... it still moves is one of the best albums i've ever heard though.. i miss their old country twangy type sounding songs..

M83 - Saturdays = Youth

Holy 80's! It's definitely M83, but a little more focused.

For fans of My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and John Hughes movies.

And let's face it, who isn't a fan of those things?

I keep meaning to mention, for all you "Scene-that-celebrates-itself" fans out there, see if you can download some of "the Field Mice" from somewhere.  They were a pretty little-known band from Bristol (Sarah Records) who split up just as they started to have some success.  Beautiful, beautiful music, though.

So there you go, consider it mentioned.

By the way, the bird from M83 is a (vocal) dead ringer for Kate Bush.

I was bummed to find out the minute I decided they were awesome was a week to the day after they had been at Schuba's. Probably for eight bucks and in front of 43 people. Fuck.

Just got this, good stuff. More similar to his Red House painting days than the last sun kil moon album, really good stuff.

If you're a 15 year old fat goth chick, just listen to the Cure and cut yourself.

Maybe try Matthew Ryan. In my opinion one of hte best songwriters of our generation, gets little press from the media.. met him a couple of times after shows at schubas, great guy. His new album, Matthew Ryan vs the Silver State is prime stuff.
