I feel like I'm being mocked.  Am I being mocked?  By BH?  Am I, BH?

OK, just a few quick ones to throw at you.

Plants and Animals - Parc Avenue

I really, really like this band. Thanks.

I was bummed to find out the minute I decided they were awesome was a week to the day after they had been at Schuba's. Probably for eight bucks and in front of 43 people. Fuck.

They're coming back March 27th.

Check 'em out - http://www.myspace.com/netherfriends

Doesn't sound too promising. But it sounds like it will be a good night to get wasted and hear some music. I'll give 'em a shot.

Ok, I just got two albums that leaked early. They'll be out later this month. I'll also be seeing both bands in Feb/March for cheep cheep cheep.

First is the new Appleseed Cast album, Sagarmatha. It's very post-rock (if that term has any meaning) and a amalgamation of their best albums. In other words, it's fucking awesome so far.

Second, I got the new Trail of Dead (...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead) album called The Century of Self and it's explosive. I really like this band though, some might find them irritating. Last time I saw them at Metro they employed two drummers with full kits which made for a loud, bad ass show. I'm pretty excited about this upcoming gig at the Empty Bottle.

If you search those two band names on google with the term "leak" you should be taken right to a link to download them. Highly recommended.

Trail of Dead (...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead)

Good thing you went with an abbreviation.

It would have been a bitch to type out their full name.

One of the best live bands I've ever seen. Do they still change up instruments during their sets?

It was probably 4 years ago last I saw them, but they definitely did that night. The show is 10-12 bucks and I don't think it's sold out. March 6th.

Bump.

Not a new album, but am really getting into Magnolia Electric Co's Trials and Errors album...
reminds me of great Crazy Horse stuff, really great overblown tube amp sounds with great lyrics.
Might be my favorite Steve Albini recorded stuff..

If you like the last 3rd of a Hank III show, I recommend Assjack's debut album. Hank pulls a Reznor and recorded all the tracks himself.

The Xx is well worth purchasing/listening to.  Just don't ever see a video of the chick with the sexy voice.

So as I was saying way back in this thread - if there is a better song than "My Girls" by Animal Collective released in this calendar year, it'll be a fantastic year.

This here isn't a video for the song, but it's the only free listen to the full track I could find.

Here's the video - wow.  http://www.myanimalhome.net/

Saw Animal Collective last night at the Metro. Despite the fact that it was an all ages show (meaning it ends promptly at 10 pm) I was blown away. They are a must-see live if you have any interest in them. It's quite an experience. The reggae influence really shows when they're live and the songs take on a whole new energy.

It also helps to be baked.

10 stars.

Shit.  I was very tempted to walk over and pay the $100 or whatever to scalp a ticket last night.  Instead, I settled for youtubing every AC thing I could get my hands on.  I have a real problem right now.  There are some ridiculous renditions of Purple Bottle and Brother Sport online.

They played mostly new stuff - highlights were of course Brother Sport and My Girls. They also played Leaf House which was great. The encore was Panda Bear's Comfy in Nautica which was a surprise and totally fucking awesome. Panda Bear is the shit. I love that guy.

Listening to the new album by Atlas Sound, called Logos. Panda Bear contributed to the first song. Sounds similar to something Animal Collective would put out. In other words, it's awesome.
