Fox wants it to finish the season because the pre-orders for the season two DVDs have outsold even Desperate Housewives.
It's all about distribution, now. Â The old media (fllm, TV, newspaper) are in for radical change.
Interesting column.

As long as Fox is making money off the show somehow, it'll stay. Family Guy only came back so they could sell more DVD's, too.

I find it interesting that a mediocre baseball player like Eric Karros got more shit for making $10 million for a season than Jean Claude Van Damme did for making the same amount for a movie.
There's a reason movie tickets cost $8, $12 or even $14 a movie, and the ludicrous amount of money our addle-brained movie stars make is right up there.

Well, ticket prices are set to maximize profits, not by the cost of the films.
That said, you are correct that Julia Roberts's salary compared to Derek Jeter should be considered the same: They are entertainers.
Once you see that, it's hard to see how steroids are any diffferent than plastic surgery. They enhance the entertainment value while not taking away from the nature of the performance (unscripted vs. scripted).

TV is usually my bane, but you morans goaded me into checking out the pilot and second episode of Arrested Development. Â Naturally, I fell head over heels after watching and made it a point to scout out this week's episode (which I didn't catch much of, but did see the gold spot referenced by MrSpeed). Â
I then caught wind that David Cross was going to be on Carson Daly's chatterbox. Â It was last night and, uh, yeah, anyone else see that? Â He had George Michael and Maeby with him, didn't answer but one or two questions from Carson, and was heard shouting from backstage during the rest of the show, all while the kids were still on the set. Â Mr. Daly seemed genuinely pissed, and it was altogether pretty weird.

David Cross is comedy genius. Him and Bob Odenkirk's "Mr. Show" from back in the day was like crack.
Carson Daley deserves to be tortured by Vietnamese Police.

Ticket prices aren't sent to maximize profits in baseball? I agree that there's more than just the cost of the actors (athletes) that goes into the price, but in both cases it's the biggest reason.

I thought last nights show was hillarious. Between the "analrapist" and "SH: I won't forget this ... dad. GB: I will. <pop roofie>", I was about to wet myself. This show gets better with each episode.Â
"Tobias just finished analraping me"...I said it before, they're swinging for the fences...

Watched the first two discs of the second season last night with the gf, only meaning to watch two eps but couldn't stand to turn it off. There can't be a better show on TV, now that CYE has slipped a bit.
