Just heard on The Score that Soriano has gone deep into Chuck's internet gash 150 times as a member of the Cubs. Nice work.

And in only his fourth sixth season as a Cub. Truly, Soriano has proven to be worth his astronomical price tag. It's a good thing Hendry outbid his only legitimate competitor, the Cubs, to obtain this titan of twat.

I will say that Soriano was worth every penny for the several weeks at a time he'd carry the Cubs in 2007 and 2008. At this point, he's a sunk cost. If he's not causing problems and if he can produce like this, it's counterproductive to trade him to a team that won't pay his salary nor part with valuable youngsters.

If only the whole damn team (including Soriano) not collapsed in October to render it moot but yeah, there was a time that that deal was perfectly acceptable.  Of course, to a man, we all pretty much knew this before the 2007 season started--that the heft of the contract was going to be easier to stomach earlier than later.  Pretty sure most everyone was uneasy with the last half half of the contract at the time.

Still, thanks to the DH--and Soriano's apparent offensive resurgence--he'll be gone this time next year and the team won't need to eat such a  Zambrano-sized percentage of the remaining contract.

So in short, fuck you, Chuck.

Which is why I've come around to the "Keep Soriano" side. He's way, way in the black (racist) as far as his effect on this team. Unless someone takes on all ze moneys, forget it.
