So I just ordered a PS3 and a little HDMI/Mini DisplayPort box that will let me play on my 27" iMac.  Already ordered MLB 10.  Is GTA 4 worth it?  And does anyone know any workarounds for my unplayable PS2 games?  (Thanks Sony)

It depends.  Did you get one of the newer PS3s?  The new PS3s do not have backwards capability for PS2 games.  However, the second generation 160 gb units did.

It's the 120 GB model unfortunately.  Just wondering if anyone knew any potential workarounds.  I still have my PS2 around (uh, thanks Weebs) but it's starting to screw up saving and scratching some discs at random.

Unfortunately, there aren't any workarounds.  To cut costs with new models, they removed the Emotion Engine chip from the system, which is what allowed the backwards compatibility.  It's pretty lame, but with PS2's still selling really well, I guess it makes sense for them to force people to keep buying them.

Skip GTA IV and just get Red Dead Redemption.  It's the same concept, but WAY better.

DPD.  I can't set my PS3 to 720p, which my iMac converter box requires before connection, because my TV doesn't support HD.  Is there a way to do it without a display?

Does any other PS3 user have issues with slow download speeds? My PS3 is insanely slow about downloading stuff. The MLB.TV app that is 12MB took around 10 minutes. With Comcast, I'm reported to be getting 12-15MB/sec, which I'm sure I'm not getting, but even if I was pulling half that, it shouldn't take 10 minutes to download. Things on my computer and Xbox download fine, PS3, though, shite. Any thoughts?

Are you hardwired?  I'm wireless and it took 25 minutes for me to download the MW2 map packs last week.

Wireless, and the PS3 is about 2 feet from the router. Online games play fine (even though its been months since I've played anything online on the PS3.

Meant to ask you, but I'm not going to look for the thread, but do you play Black Ops still? I got on for the first time in a month on my xbox and it seemed like every match I player was against 15 prestiges and gold gun fags. TDubbs thinks we are losers. These fags who have played like 15 days worth of a game that has been out for 7 months are worse.

I do play Black Ops on occasion, but I'm back on PS3 now.

RE: PS3 download speeds could be due to the reopening of the Store and the wealth of people trying to download all the new stuff and then even newer stuff being uploaded by Sony to the Store.  That's just a wild guess, though.
