Just so the Bears thread doesn't become overloaded. Did anyone watch the game last night? How the hell do the Dolphins start a drive, down 4 pts, with 3:17 left in the game and not go into the hurry up until after the friggn' two minute warning? Considering Chad Pennington's incapable of a pass deeper than 25 yards maybe, just maybe, you should try to conserve as much clock as possible?  They made Lovie's clock management against Green Bay look downright admirable.

I'm watching the SC highlights of their last drive and the commentators are baffled. What the hell were the Dolphins doing?

All I can see is Chad Pennington's flickering lightbulb hanging over his West Virginia Sisterfuckin' Mouthbreathin' head.

I didn't see the game, but how could a team possibly have the ball for 45 minutes in a 60 minute game, only turn the ball over once, and still lose?

Don't worry, it will breathe by the time the Giants ass-rape the Saints.

Well, the Dolphins had 239 rushing yards on 49 attempts which chewed up a lot of clock. And it looks like they didn't do it very efficiently. I'm no expert on football. Is it common to have 27 first downs and 21 third downs?

The problem was they froze up damn near every damn they got near the goal line and they settled for field goals because the wildcat and running every damn down failed them when they got into the red zone. The other problem was letting Peyton Manning throw it wherever the hell he wanted. He was on the field for less than 15 minutes because he scored nearly every time he was out there. The Colts last touchdown drive was 3 passes and lasted 32 seconds. The defense was just pathetic.

I think I saw that Manning had 3 TD drives that lasted a total of 2 minutes.  He really likes playing in Pro Player Dolphin Landshark Stadium

More like 4 minutes.

But, still: 3 drives, 11 total plays, starting around their own 20 all three times...

There's the very first play of the game:

1st-10, Ind20  15:00  Peyton Manning Pass to Dallas Clark for 80 yards for a TOUCHDOWN
0-0,    Mia2   14:48  Adam Vinatieri extra point is GOOD. Holder-Pat McAfee

And then their two 4th quarter possessions:

1st-10, Ind21  13:17  Donald Brown Off Left Tackle to Ind24 for 3 yards
2nd-7,  Ind24  12:37  Peyton Manning Pass to Dallas Clark to Mia27 for 49 yards
1st-10, Mia27  11:59  Donald Brown Off Left Guard to Mia23 for 4 yards
2nd-6,  Mia23  11:28  Peyton Manning Pass to Dallas Clark to Mia19 for 4 yards
3rd-2,  Mia19  10:44  Peyton Manning Pass to Austin Collie to Mia15 for 4 yards
1st-10, Mia15  10:12  Donald Brown up the Middle for 15 yards for a TOUCHDOWN
0-0,    Mia2   10:06  Adam Vinatieri extra point is GOOD. Holder-Pat McAfee

1st-10, Ind20   3:44  Peyton Manning Pass to Reggie Wayne to Ind35 for 15 yards
1st-10, Ind35   3:39  Peyton Manning Pass to Dallas Clark to Mia48 for 17 yards
1st-10, Mia48   3:34  Peyton Manning Pass Incomplete to Pierre Garcon
2nd-10, Mia48   3:29  Peyton Manning Pass to Pierre Garcon for 48 yards for a TOUCHDOWN
0-0,    Mia2    3:18  Adam Vinatieri extra point is GOOD. Holder-Pat McAfee

Yeah. Compare that to Miami's last drive alone-

Miami - 3:13
1st-10, MIA18 3:13 R. Brown rushed to the left for 1 yard gain
2nd-9, MIA19 2:26 R. Brown rushed to the right for 5 yard gain
3rd-4, MIA24 2:00 C. Pennington passed to T. Ginn Jr. down the middle for 11 yard gain
1st-10, MIA35 1:39 C. Pennington passed to T. Ginn Jr. to the left for 9 yard gain
2nd-1, MIA44 1:33 C. Pennington passed to A. Fasano to the right for 1 yard gain
1st-10, MIA45 1:10 C. Pennington sacked by R. Mathis. C. Pennington fumbled. V. Carey recovered fumble
2nd-19, MIA35 0:56 C. Pennington passed to D. Bess to the left for 18 yard gain
3rd-1, IND46 0:50 C. Pennington rushed up the middle for 4 yard gain
1st-10, IND42 0:41 C. Pennington incomplete pass down the middle
2nd-10, IND42 0:35 C. Pennington incomplete pass down the middle
3rd-10, IND42 0:27 C. Pennington incomplete pass to the left
4th-10, IND42 0:22 C. Pennington passed to T. Ginn Jr. down the middle for 12 yard gain
1st-10, IND30 0:12 C. Pennington incomplete pass down the middle
2nd-10, IND30 0:00 A. Bethea intercepted C. Pennington for no gain

First off, your first two plays are runs? Second how the hell do you let a whopping 47 seconds go by between the first play and the second? Brutal, brutal clock management. What's sad is I'm already hearing that Pennington's on the hot seat, even after the great year he had last year, because they feel they can open up the playbook more with Chad Henne's arm. It won't work, given that Chad Henne is an overrated Michigan piece of shit just like every other quarterback to have attended that school that's Not named Tom Brady, but still shows you just how poorly people think of Chad Pennington's arm.

When Pennington got sacked on the last drive, he did the one thing that drives me crazy--he waited about 10 seconds to call a timeout.  At that point, fuck it--just line up and run a play, don't burn your last timeout after so much time has already run off the clock.  Either call time right away or run a play.  Of course, had that inbred hillbilly motherfapper waited one more second to call that last timeout, time would have been called by the officials on account of the Indy injury.  In fact, however, had Pennington not waited to call time and instead run to the line, the issue would have been forced, time would have been called by the officials, and Miami still would have had the last timeout in their picket.

Also, Ted Ginn's gotta make that catch.  It was well-defended but in that situation, you can't let a 5th string D Back (or whoever that scrub was) outmuscle you for the game-winning TD.

I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

Yeah, from he quick recap I saw on SC this morning they should have been.

Unrelated note, Jason McKie is tweeting about poor old Plax today and responded to me saying he deserves what he got and more IMO.  Not as cool as Mr. Cutler responding to Andy, but hey, it's something.
