... It suddenly occurs to me that I may have been a "fan" of Journey ...

I almost stopped being your fan.

SLAKPRISE! I hate Journey.

Yet you love "Glee"...

Taking a stand against Journey is about as daring as Chip Cary taking a stand against murder.  Is there any single person at this board who likes Journey?  I just assumed that there wasn't.   I'd really be stunned--and disappointed--if there were.

I don't not like them.  I saw them in concert once and it was a good show.

This is not nearly the same thing as "liking" Journey, but I'll go so far as to say that I don't actively hate them.

Sure... If it was 1981 and they were selling multi-platinum albums and otherwise polluting our collective headspace, I'd probably hate them as much as I loath the likes of Maroon 5 or Train. But, outside of 2005, what reason is there to hate Journey now? What's at stake?

Also: the video for "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)" belongs in a museum.

I was using Chip Caray as an example of someone seemingly going out on a limb on something that is not remotely controversial.  I honestly assumed hatred of Journey was unaminous, even with all of the variant tastes people have here.

I mean, fucking Journey?  WTF, people?

Journey, Kansas, Styx, REO, Foreigner, Boston are all the same awful, awful band.

IIRC, the last time you and I had this exact same discussion it led to you reminiscing about your teenage days in the basements of Buffalo Grove.
