Also: have we decided on rules yet?

For 2009 we've scored like this:

a) Rank your picks 1-10 and be awarded points by ranking (10 points for #1, down to 1 point for #10)
b) Add one bonus point for each decade under 90

I'm suggesting the following for 2010:

a) Rank your picks 1-10 and be awarded points by ranking
b) Add one bonus point for each decade under 90
c) Deduct one penalty point for each person other than yourself who picked the same person
d) Each correct pick would be guaranteed a minimum of 1 point, regardless of deductions

Any dissenters?

Sounds good to me.

Works for me.

Present.

Bump.

13 shopping days until DEAD POOL.

So far, I've got picks from TJ, RV, Yeti and Pen.

PM me for the submission email if you haven't already.

And remember: we can't all pick Carlos Silva.

If Al dies, we'll be too busy flipping cars to tally the points.

You do NOT have my picks yet.  I e-mailed a question to your submission e-mail  and got a response that said "WELCOME TO THE THUNDERDOME".

Still working on it, but I will have it in.
I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

I'll have my picks in a couple of days.  There are some people that I'm waiting on 2009 to take care of first.

Abe Vigoda, I'm looking at you!

Those who haven't picked yet may want to consider the net worth of their choices.

QuoteStarting Jan. 1, the estate tax -- which can erase nearly half of a wealthy person's estate -- goes away for a year. For families facing end-of-life decisions in the immediate future, the change is making one of life's most trying episodes only more complex.

On Jan. 1, the one-year halt to the estate tax begins. And never before has so much money hinged on the time of death, WSJ's Laura Saunders reports in a News Hub extra.

"I have two clients on life support, and the families are struggling with whether to continue heroic measures for a few more days," says Joshua Rubenstein, a lawyer with Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP in New York. "Do they want to live for the rest of their lives having made serious medical decisions based on estate-tax law?"

Currently, the tax applies to about 5,500 taxpayers a year. So, on average, at least 15 people die every day whose estates would benefit from the the tax's lapse.
