Bumped for his vastly improved defense, particularly his decrease in throwing errors.

That's been nice.

The terrible plate discipline has been disappointing.

I think he's been trying to be a one-man team. Hopefully now that Rizzo's behind him in the lineup, we'll see his OPB get back into the .340 range.

"Then we can find out that Rizzo is Italian for Adam LaRoche which is French for average first baseman who will play for 8 teams before he retires."

This has been all over the place, but I wanted to formally acknowledge in this space that Chuck is wrong again.

Sources: #Cubs’ deal with Castro will be for 6 or 7 yrs plus club option for another yr. Will buy out all 4 years arb and 2 or 3 FA years.

Apparently Epstein and Hoyer haven't been paying attention.

Intrepid Reader: Chuck

Now that it's officially a done deal without a no-trade clause, he's more tradeable.

Internet Chuck is actually right in this instance. I hope he bounces back and has an awesome year next year and every year with the Cubs until I'm dead.

Wait you can sign a player to a long term deal without a no trade clause?  What a world we live in.

Also interesting that Creepy Bruce Levine was talking on his Sunday radio show that there was a snag in the Castro talks, and that the parties might not do a deal over it.  So much for that.

Did he also say that the Pudge Rodriguez signing was imminent?

So stoked to have his .276 BA and his 97 OPS+ in the lineup for the next decade...

"Plummer, in 1999, "contributed" 1,017 fewer yards to the Cardinals than the league average QB would have brought to the table. As far as modern seasons go, Plummer's '99 stands as the worst."

.276 and 97 can't be base 7 numbers, which would only have digits between 0 and 6.
