I'm not sure why anyone would be against this trade.

I'm not strongly against it, but I also don't think the trade is all sunshine and rainbows.

I don't have much of any faith in Cubs 'prospects', but it seems like giving away the
chance for some cheap useful years for the right to pay Garza a lot of money.  And
the thing is that I just don't think a ton of Garza.  Maybe it's because he looks like
Matt Clement with a spray tan.  I am very skeptical that the AL East->NL Central
move will be a bigger impact than the Rays Defense->Cubs Defense, and
Tropicana->Wrigley for a severe fly ball pitcher.

If you think that Garza will be a big contributor for the Cubs then it's definitely it's a
hell of a good trade.  I just don't see that as the case.

He looks more like Joaquin Benoit to me.

You mean Joe Cowley's incessant claims that the Sun Times is the best paper in the city are wrong?

The last severe fly ball pitcher who came from the AL East to the Cubs did all right.

I hope he's as successful as Ted, but the Skydome is a lot different than Tropicana.

Granted, the 2010 numbers are probably a bit skewed in my favor, but regardless it's
a good pitcher's park.

I like the trade, as it makes the Cubs somewhat less likely to suck next year.  Any action that gets the team closer to winning a World Series is a good one in my book.

This is so bad, I'd root for the Orioles over this fucking team, but I can't. Because they're a fucking drug and you can't kick it and they'll never win anything and they'll always suck, but it'll always be sunny at Wrigley and there will be tits and ivy and an old scoreboard and fucking Chads.

I'm against the guy who made it.  Does that count?

We're all against that guy.

It does not.

I'm pretty much always for trading prospects for young, established players still under club control for a couple of years, or however the kids are saying it.  I mean, sure it's fun reading about the prospects and they all sound really great, but that's why they call 'em prospects.  There'll be another Archer-type that throws hard and walks a lot of people.  Hak-Juk Lee sounds good in theory, but we know how those Asian-types turn out---slap-hitting disappointments.  Plus, if Kaz Tadano taught us anything, it's that any of 'em is liable to end up in some guy's porn collection being a straight man that does ghey stuff for money.  The other guys are nobodies.  I'm just glad the cubs got Garza and that Perez kid guy.  I'm a big enough man to give teh hendry his due on this one.  I positive it.

This trade does not excite me, but I guess I'll just wait and SEE HOW IT PLAYS OUT.

That said, I'm surprised there isn't more Sam Fuld mourning from you guys.

I'm picking up what you're laying down.  Also, for the people (not necessarily on here) who are saying this is stupid because the Cubs won't contend in 2012 or 2013 either, well, those people are retarded.  If recent history has shown us anything, baseball is one of the EASIEST sports in which to turn around a team.  The Giants went from 72 wins in 2008 to World Series champs in 2010.  The Rangers won 75 games and finished dead last in the AL West as recently as 2007.  Oh, and there's those Tampa Bay rays, who went from 66 wins in 2007 to 97 wins and a World Series appearance in 2008.

In conclusion, the Pirates are going to beat the Mariners in the 2011 World Series.
