Well, is he boiling over with ANGER right now if Epstein really did mean to rule him out today? The Phils snubbed him in putting him on their big league staff. Is he furiously penning a cover letter and mailing it off to St. Louis right now?

If the cubs hire Davey Martinez.  I want a camera crew inside the Sandberg household to see his reaction.

My guess

Well, should we root for a Ryne Sandberg managerial run in St. Louis, if the reaction by the BFiBB is like this.

You see, there's the unwritten rule that you don't trade away players to teams in your own division.

So this would be just like if the Cardinals had reverse traded away Ryne Sandberg from the '89 Cubs for Albert Pujols.

It makes sense if you don't think about it at all.

That might have been one of those trades that helped both teams.

Sandberg would have filled in the gap at 2nd base left behind when the Cards traded Tommy Herr for Tom Brunansky in 1988.

Pujols, meanwhile, would have been in the prime of his career as he had to be about 29 or 30 that year, and he probably could have held down 3rd base while batting behind Dawson in the now-very formidable lineup.

I thought his brain melted from too many foul tips to the dome. This should be fun. Two of our biggest rivals hired completely inexperienced managers.

The Cubs should interview Jose Oquendo. Sandberg thinks he got a raw deal?

Isn't Oquendo getting the shaft pretty much the last goodbye for Pujols?

Oquendo is staying with the team, as an assistant coach still.

The good news is, he will now reach the elusive 100K club on Greyhound.
