I had Gerry Rafferty on one of my earlier entries, but pulled him off after I read they took him off life support because his kidneys started responding again.

To be fair, Pen's probably just really itching to get some points that he may not actually ever get.

They're my points until they're not.

As a matter of fact, you've got two picks that could be problematic.

I don't even know if you're referring to Schumacher or McMath, but I stand by both of those picks.

If this is the McMath you're referring to then I call bullshit.

She's more legit than anyone on Death Row with a scheduled execution date.

I'm banking on her family to take her off life support (or her heart to stop beating)in 2016 which is pretty damn unlikely based on any history here.

Look, I'm all for Wheezer and his esoteric quasi-celebrities, but I'd have known we could use stuff like this, I'd have just called the local cancer ward and gotten the names of the 10 sickest patients.

Stupid HIPAA.

Goddammit, Pen: a new thread in the Dead Pool?  For a moment, I got my hopes up.

SEE, CT??

Here's the difference as I see it, most everyone else is either reacting after the thread is posted, or in Tonk's case reacting to thinking it was posted.  You are the only one who begins flooding the messageboard and the Shoutbox (RIP) with WHERESTHEDEADPOOLPOST ... at 12:01 on January 1st and whinges ceaselessly until Thrill finally posts the damn thing.

Were you people able to read the subject line or not? The only reaction I had was "Mackenzie Phillips outlasts another one."

[Edit.—On further recollection, I perceived a brief mental seize-up in which which the "Bonnie Franklin" circuit was triggered and received separate replies. First was "finally dead?" Then "wait, already dead?" The resolution of course was "read post." However, interpreted as a Gedankenexperiment, it occurs to me that it might have represented a nontrivially interesting way of connecting object-oriented AI models to experiment back in the day, with the remaining question being whether there was a realizable fMRI/PET instantiation: What replies can a BonnieFranklin object return? Why the delay? Were there two messages? Etc.]

This has proved to be a poor criterion for me in the past, although I did at least take care in choosing the particular inmates.

I suspect that what you're betting on is ill defined. Then again, "questionable" is not a well-defined Dead Pool term of art, either, although it has an attestation in the superlative form "highly questionable."

And I spent a good half of my free PACER allotment for the quarter bringing the docket current and downloading the exhibits (N.D. Cal. helpfully pads them with a blank page) to the complaint, so you're welcome.
