Kerry Wood got a “steroid” shot. At this point, going on the ‘roids might be his only hope.

Acoording to the Elias Sports Bureau, when Joe Crede dropped that foul pop-up and Manny Ramirez hit the game-winning homer on the next the pitch? That doesn’t happen too often.

Manny Ramirez hit a ninth-inning, game-winning home run in the Red Sox’s 6-5 victory over the White Sox on Thursday. Ramirez’s at-bat was prolonged when Joe Crede dropped a foul pop-up. It was the first such home run — a late-inning game-winner after a batter was given a so-called “second life” — since Aug. 28, 1992. Wally Joyner dropped Dan Gladden’s foul pop-up in the eighth inning, and then Gladden hit a two-run tiebreaking homer to give the Tigers a 4-2 win over the Angels.
