It was interesting last night when Bob Brenly was saying, “Glendon Rusch gives the Cubs’ starting rotation a different look. He’s a lefty, but he’s also different in that he works fast, throws strikes and doesn’t throw a lot of pitches.” Then they showed Greg Maddux. Maybe Glendon’s approach isn’t so different. Especially that with Matt Clement in Boston and Kerry Wood at the OBGYN, the Cubs’ starters don’t waste any time on that mound. All of them get it and chuck it.

Dusty says Corey’s abilities are “unlimited.” I’d say his ability to get on base is severely limited.

If Mike Remlinger is put on the DL, it’ll be like when the NBA used to pretend that you had to be hurt to be on the injured list. So the Bulls would have to make a move that said, “Dennis Hopson – IR – foot” when they meant, “Dennis Hopson – IR- bad.”

Dusty’s just interested in Graves because he’s different, not because he’s useful.

So long R-Dub. If only you’d left after your first half-season with the Bears, we might have actually missed you.

Teddy G. spends a day with Boers and Bernstein. I hope he’s paid handsomely.

Mariotti puts down the doughnut to write a column that reads like a very bad blog.

Dusty says Todd Walker will be leaving the Rally Carp behind and returning in the next few days, and when he comes up he’s going to play. And so will Jerry Hairston. Oh, god, where?

The Wizard of Roz has impeccable timing. His column on Jon Garland runs the day after Garland’s first loss.

Wait, is it 1995 or 2005? The Magic hired Brian Hill? Are they bringing back Terry Catledge, too?

Peter King’s Monday Morning Quarterback, which during the off-season is borrrrrrring.

The Marlins don’t want Danny Graves. (smart)

The Mets only want him if he clears waivers and they get him for the minimum. (mildly stupid)

The Phillies might go after Graves. (kinda stupid)

The Devil Rays might want him. (why?)

The Mets want LaTroy! (Omar Minaya’s on hallucinogens again)

The Phillies finally figured out that Terry Adams sucks. We knew that 10 years ago.
