4-5 with 2 HR, a double, 3 R, and 5 RBI tonight. This is getting ridiculous.

So are we going to have to go to Florida soon to watch him play, because I was thinking about taking a trip to Kane County, wherever that is.

Bryant was hot and made it to Daytona last year, so you might not have many more chances at Kane County.

Thank God the Cubs did all that tanking last season so they could get the fourth pick in a three-player draft (if that).

FYEG!

Cool. He's an advanced college bat beating up on teenagers four levels away from the major leagues.

Also, most reports said he would have been available in the early teens since the Cubs' strategy necessitated reaching so far for an underslot. So most likely, they could have had him without losing so many games last season.

So they could have had Schwarber and a slightly larger participation trophy? Plus 2-3 million fewer dollars to spend on tougher signs elsewhere in the draft?

If that's how you all look at winning more games at the major-league level, the front office has officially brainwashed you.

Maybe in a couple seasons that'd be true. It sure isn't now.

Just how many more games do you think they could have won last season?

And if the answer isn't Wildcard or playoffs, why not take advantage of better draft spots, more draft money?

And what moves would have been necessary to make that happen? Not trading Feldman and getting Arrieta in return? Signing some stopgap outfielders that'll block Alcantara, etc. when they start to come up?

Maybe there's  been some excessive tanking but I don't see what they could have done to actively try to win more games that would have been worth messing with the long term plan and possibly costing themselves slot money and the like in the draft this year.
I will vow, for the sake of peace, not to complain about David Ross between now and his first start next year- 10/26/2015

I mean, I think Edwin Jackson was a move that they made last year to try to not-tank a little bit, and then he's stunk out loud. I don't think they planned that part of the Super Tank.

Enough that the season would have been fun to follow.

So how is Tank's participation ribbon comment off the mark?

DPD, but I guess we'll have to see whether this long-term plan actually results in an enough wins that it pays off the way it's supposed to down the road, but I don't think saying "we'll sacrifice a little "fun" watching a 75 win team vs. a 65 win team for the potential of watching a 90-95 win team full of homegrown prospects a few years from now" is necessarily being brainwashed.

If the prospects don't pan out we're fucked whether we have a bunch of mid-level free agent bandaids on the roster either way, so I don't see why we shouldn't just root for the front office to do whatever they need to do to carry out their plan.
