If Soriano drives in a 100 runs on a team with only one regular with an OBP above .320, would that in any way compare to Steve Carlton's 27 win season for a 59 win team?  Just spitballin' here, but that strikes me as a pretty impressive accomplishment.

Only impressive if you think RBIs mean anything.

It's a team dependent stat, much like Wins, you asshat.

You're the one that's saying it's impressive, Ballbag.

DPD.  Not that this fact hasn't been brought up to you before, but the 2007 playoffs don't exist without Soriano's September, so go fuck your own face, Chuck.
So, how many playoff wins did they have with him? How many would they have had without him?

Poor, poor Chuck, with so little ability to analyze decisionmaking in a probabilistic context.

It is impressive, fucknut.

Yes, like most enlightened fans, I don't use RBI as meaningful barometer of an individual player's success--certainly when there are cleaner metrics to use which are more team-independent.  However, it's still a statistic and in this context, it's a team-dependent statistic being used for a player on an otherwise godawful offensive team.  And it's impressive, by any objective measure.  Now go get your shinebox.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

Fine. If you want to be impressed by a gaudy RBI total for a guy on a team that can't score runs, The Artist Formerly Known As Mike Stanton is smoking Adolfo, 7 RBI behind Sori on a team that's scored 7 more runs than the Cubs, and Stanton has 100 less PAs.

Dawson (5 games, 22 PAs): .105 / .227 / .158 / .385 0 HR, 3 RBI, 0 R, 6 Ks
Soriano (6 games, 29 PAs): .107 / .138 / .107 / .245 0 HR, 0 RBI, 0 R, 8 Ks

To be fair, I'm pretty sure Hendry handed Adolfo a blank contract and let him fill in the terms.  That's kind of the same.

He'd be the third to do so1. Nate Colbert2 had 111 RBIs for the 1972 Padres and Tony Perez had 102 RBIs for the 1967 Reds. Colbert's season is more impressive, not just because he tallied an extra 9 ribbies (!), but because he knocked in 22.7% of all runs that the Fathers scored that year. The '67 Reds scored 604 runs, so Perez "only" accounted for 16.9% of their runs. Fonsie is sitting at 18.6% -- 88 RBIs out of the 472 runs the Cubbies (!) have scored

1. This assumes a "regular" is any member of the same team with at least 300 plate appearances.
2. Who the fuck is Nate Colbert?3

In that magical year of 1972, he had 5 dongs and 13 of those 111 ribbies in a doubleheader against the Braves.

Dusty was with Braves at the time. I'm sure Hank Aaron did something even more special.
