OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Bumping this for an offense that can't hit anything other than mediocre or bad pitching.

dude fuckin loves bunts

But yet he can't PH a starter for Farrell to get a bunt down???  I'm confused.

It was a fun win, but man, if you're going to use Morrow to close it down when you're up 6, why not play for 1 there?

If anyone is going to any of the games in Milwaukee, I'd be happy to meet for beers, hangout at the park, etc.

"Let's pick this kid up off waivers from the Reds..."

Said no competent front office ever.

Maybe it'll take me agreeing-ish with SKO to cause him to run to reason, but all I'm seeing from this team is an overrated core (the difference between the Cubs' middle infield and Houston's is that Houston's can hit, and the Cubs' can't) and albatross FA signings, which is consistent with Epstink's MO...build something out of nothing, then watch it collapse under the weight of bad contracts.

Darvish is a past-his-prime headcase.  Lester is Wile E Coyote suspended in midair having walked off the cliff, if he hasn't already started falling.  Heyward is MLB's most expensive motivational speaker.  The Justin Wilson trade may be McStiff trade bad.

Every time I try to figure out something Epstink has done right since 2016, I end up scratching my head.

I want Eloy back. It'd be nice to have someone who can both play the outfield defensively and hit, instead of another 4th starter.

Cubs are reportedly close to signing Brandon Morrow. I also positive.

It's not that I dislike the Morrow signing (though the money is a bit nuts for a reliever one-year removed from a dismal season), as much as I think Pat Neshek was a much better option, especially in light of Neshek likely commanding a similar, or perhaps slightly lesser salary.

2016 is to be cherished forever.

2016 isn't enough. I don't want this aggregate of Cubs to live off that magical year like the 1985 Bears or 2005 White Sox. Fuck that.

I want them to have an era, like the Bulls or Blackhawks. Where a core group of players are remembered for being dominant and being the absolute best in franchise history. Where we each have a collection of World Champion hats, books and videos.

I want 2016 to signal the beginning, like the 2010 Blackhawks. I want to someday have memories of great Cubs moments and have to stop for a second to make sure I have which time they won it all right.

I'm with you, but they're going to need to find a way to add 1 - 2 elite starters (two if Hendricks turns out to be just the really, really good one) and 1 - 2 elite relievers (depending on whether Carl's Jr. can get to that level) to have this sort of "era."  Good pitching is going to beat good hitting too frequently for the offensive talent the Cubs have to matter in the postseason without a significantly better rotation and bullpen.

What I'm struggling with - starters and pen - is how many non-competitive pitches they throw out of the zone.  It seems like everyone we've faced rarely works 2 or 3 ball counts and is just pounding the zone.  And for our pitchers, this has been a trend all season...rarely do starters work into the 7th or 8th because their pitch count is driven up by a high volume of balls thrown.

I'm not sure if this is us now being behind philosophically, pitchers being tired, or what, but this postseason is suggesting that there's a lot to be said for just throwing strikes early in the count.

How the fuck did Happ get so far into the doghouse?

That play in CF may explain at least some of that...

What are the odds that the front office is scouring potential free agents this moment to overhaul this dumpster fire?

Boy, let's throw money at a mercurial position subject to massive swings of variance.  Throwing money at all but the very best relievers is as clever as trading for Justin Wilson.

What the fuck

Schwarber still in left, Montgomery still on the mound in the 8th in a one-run game...  Joe's only good decision this postseason has been to ride Davis when he had no choice in Game 5.  After that...

Goddamn gutless fucking assholes. Everyone other than Wade, anyway

As rocky as the pen has been this game, Quintana's inexcusable two walks have been the culprit.  Why Lackey wasn't ready, I don't know.  I'll take the unknown to the fucking dumpster fires we've seen do nothing but walk guys and give up bombs.

**Nevermind, why Montgomery got to come back out in the 8th is beyond me.  This guy is a fucking dumpster fire right now and should be DL'd out of this series after tonight.**
