They'd better beat the New Fork Giants by at least two TDs so that I can go one fucking week without hearing about how big of a fluke their win was.

Better hope they don't score on special teams or create many turnovers either. It only counts if your offense scores on a drive of 7 plays or more, in which the defense commits zero penalties.

Don't be so sure.  They could win 31-0 and it would have been because of Giants mistakes, refs, Coughlin, replay, Calvin Johnson, and the Packers' penalties.

Exactly. NFL Wins only count if you have more points, total yards, rushing yards, passing yards, a greater time of possession, nicer uniforms, AND the opponent played a mistake-free game and just couldn't best you.

Which is why the Lions technically won again today.  I don't want to hear about how awesome Green Bay is anymore.  Fuck them.

This is how I thought the season was going to go. Minus the good play on defense of course. I liked bizarro-Bears better. Let's hope they have them on ice in the locker room ready to make a comeback after the half.

The good news, I guess, is that the Bears are only down 3. The bad news is that it might take 100 drives for the Bears to score 6 points tonight.

One of the defense/Hester will likely have to either win the game or give the offense a very short field.

Not a big fan of most of FM radio (too repetitive)...probably going to have to change this week.  On a side note, its amazing how, now that Cutler's out of the game, everything is the offensive line's fault.

Oh yay.  The meatheads are going to have a field day.  By Tuesday, Martz should be fired, Cutler should be cut, and we'll "need to give dat kid Brett Basanez a shot."
Who gives a shit what they have to say?

Last night I truly realized the dark side of having a franchise quarterback. In all of the other years in which the Bears have had god-awful offensive lines, I never really held my breath with the dread of losing Erik Kramer, Rick Mirer, Dave Krieg, Steve Stenstrom, Moses Moreno, Shane Matthews, Cade McNown, Jim Miller, Chris Chandler, Henry Burris, Kordell Stewart, Jonathan Quinn, Craig Krenzel, Chad Hutchinson, or Brian Fucking Griese to any kind of significant injury. The franchise would "recover" because they could just throw another nameless journeyman out there to take his whacks. But Cutler? Christ almighty did it hurt to watch him take that beating. I'm aware that he'd been sacked 43 times in 19 games before last night, but last night was the first time I was truly afraid that he wouldn't get back up.

Right now, if they get Chris Williams back (not that he's that good, but he's at least better than what's out there right now) and settle on one offensive line and modify the protections and find some way to at least offer enough of a running threat that they can (wait for it) set up a few play action passes to kill the blitz I think they can still take advantage of their easy first half schedule and lock in that first round playoff exit. But if Cutler goes down...well, I know we'd all get our wish to see Lovie gone, but I'm still terrified Angelo's going to stay. I'm not really sure where I'm going with this, other than Jesus Christ, I really, really fucking hate Jerry Angelo.

I liked how the Bears kept rotating offensive lineman last night. Someone would get his ass eaten by a Giants D-lineman, they'd replace him with something called Edwin or Webb, that guy would get his balls caved in, and they'd bring the first asshole back in. Good times. Is Lance Louis seriously injured? Why do I care?

I like when Hester actually seemed to be breaking free on a screen and Edwin straight up tackled his ass. Good form tackle, too. As much as I like the "accountability" thing, they really need to get Williams back healthy and pick five guys and then try to ride them out. It's impossible to get in a groove and get up to game speed on the offensive line if you have 3 guys rotating every snap.

The only thing better than meathead fans is the guy the meatheads adore (http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=5647783)

Quote"I don't think anybody was open down field, because they had seven in coverage, but the quarterback has to get the ball out of his hands, too," Ditka said Monday on "Mike & Mike" on ESPN Radio. "He looked like he was not even aware of the pressure around him.

"That's all part of football, the quarterback has to have that little clock in his head that says 'I have to get rid of the football.' Jay Cutler didn't have it yesterday, that's for sure. "

Had he chucked it down the field people would have been bitching about his picks.

QuoteDitka said he noticed Lovie Smith's demeanor during the game, and Ditka said he would have reacted differently.

"Lovie is a low-key guy," Ditka said. "I couldn't believe ... I would have went [psycho] yesterday. I would have been ballistic. I watched him and he had complete control and composure. I guess that's good, but you have to call somebody out. The line coach or somebody had to call these guys over.

"Football to me is a game of pride. You get what you tolerate. If you tolerate the other guy beating you, that's what you're going to get. I look at it that way. This is me and you, one on one(11 on 11???). Forget the other guys. I'm going to win my battle, and if we have enough guys winning those individual battles, we'll win this football game. And that's the way you have to approach it."

Like I said, the funniest thing is that he probably did hold the ball too long on two or three of those. Maybe even four. So that still leaves at least FIVE SACKS IN THE FIRST HALF that weren't his fault, like that number alone isn't something to be embarassed about.

Holding onto the ball too long and taking four sacks is equally as embarrassing.  I don't see what you guys see in Cutler.  I don't watch him nearly as much as you guys do, but whenever I do get the chance I cringe at every play.

Cutler wasn't even the QB most worthy of being called out last night. Neither was Tom Collins or Caleb Hainie or YA Tittle. How about Eli "My brother's good, you know" Manning.  How can you only manage 17 points in a game like that?

Cutler is among the top 3 QBs in the NFC this year. And that's despite shitty receivers, a non-blocking TE (should we ask why Desmond Clark was in street clothes), a non-blocking OL, and a mediocre set of backs.

Yeah, he should have thrown it away on four of them. Then again, no one was open either, so those would have probably been picks that, like Yeti said, they'd criticize Cutler for and say that he should have just eaten it. Cutler's got a QB rating that's .2 points lower than Drew Brees this year. I'm not saying he's that good, but fucking cringeworthy? Get bent.

Sorry, man.  If I were a Bears fan I'm not sold on Cutler.  But, they're 3-1 and maybe this game was some strange kind of bizarro Bears alternate universe backwards day bizzaro game.  Carolina up next and they should definitely beat them.

This is what I don't get. What is there to "sell" on Cutler? Does he have to be Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, or Tom Brady to be considered a success? He's a guy that's incredibly talented and, in 16/20 games as a Chicago Bear he's been very good (93.2 Rating). He had four God awful games. He's not a top 5 quarterback. He's very arguably top ten. He's got a 102 rating this year and is second in YPA despite being on pace for an NFL record 72 sacks. The guy's not perfect. He's not a bust, he's well above mediocre. He's better than 90% of the options out there.  So he's not elite. Fine. He's good enough to win you a championship in the NFL if you block for him, especially with a defense playing the way Chicago's is right now. You want to say he's not? Eli Manning, Ben Roethlisberger (say what you will now, but in 2005 the guy sucked in the Superbowl), Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Mark Rypien, Doug Williams, Jeff Hostetler, and Jim Plunkett all disagree. He attended a rookie mini-camp, so he "knows" the system. And he's got experience running for his life behind a terrible offensive line.

Basically the Bears gave up a lot of draft picks and a well-liked game manager in Kyle Orton in order to get him. Cutler violated some kind of old school sports law by demanding a trade (even though the Broncos tried to trade him first) and thus he is reviled by most fans and media as a crybaby while I hear about how awesome it is that Michael Vick is rising above the prison sentence he earned by killing dogs. He is thus a target.

He has absolutely no protection from the line in front of him. This is not a new problem. He lead the league in interceptions last year, but almost half of those came in 3 games that have been way overblown. He's not Good Rex, Bad Rex every other week. He's Pro Bowl Quarterback 16 out of 20 games, Really Bad QB 4 of those. If he can learn to eliminate those really bad games he'll have realized his potential. He's been sacked 58 times in 20 games and has had to pull it down and run it another 53 times. Last year he was under more pressure than any quarterback in the league not named Jason Campbell. He also had the support of a defense last year that was 21st in the NFL in points allowed (and sadly, that was the lowest point total any defense that he's played with has ever surrendered).

For a guy who goes down on 15% of his dropbacks, I think he's pretty damn good. There are a few games where he's contributed more to his team's defeat than he did in it's favor (last year against Green Bay, San Francisco, and Baltimore), but there's a hell of a lot more where he is the Only reason they've won, and a hell of a lot more than that, sadly, where he's not at all the reason they lost.

I think it's a list of QBs that won Super Bowls. He left off Kurt Warner, who is presumably stocking supermarket shelves again with his lovely wife. If Cutler has to sit next week or the Bears want an insurance policy, what would it take to lure Warner out of retirement? Or does he still hate Mike Martz?

It would probably take an assurance that he would not get concussed and/or killed.

So that's a no-go.

I'm saying I don't get what people don't "buy" about Jay Cutler. He's a good quarterback. Maybe not a future Hall of Famer like Manning, Brees, or Brady, but good enough when he has time to throw. There are plenty of quarterbacks who aren't HOF-Caliber who have won Superbowls. I just don't get what it is people think Cutler will "never do." Bears fans and the media seem to have some vague, undefinable "it" factor that Cutler can never attain. I guess quarterbacks that have "it" just shake off historically bad offensive lines and a complete lack of a running game and singlehandedly win games. He's certainly as good as or on par with any of those mediocrities that won Superbowls (at least Eli and Roethlisberger were pretty mediocre at the time). Clear enough?

His career QB rating and rate +, TD%, completion %, YPA, Adjusted YPA, and Net Adjusted YPA are all above average. He throws too many picks, yeah, but if he threw so many that it outweighed his good qualities than his rating and Net Adjusted YPA wouldn't be above average. There are probably only five or so quarterbacks I'd rather have than him (Brees, Rivers, Rodgers, P. Manning, Brady, and Roethlisberger(if judged solely by his on field activities)). So he's not perfect. He's also really young with plenty of time to grow and the fact that he's accomplished what he has this year behind that line is nothing short of extraordinary. This whole debate boils down to People Who Think Cutler Suck for Reasons Mostly Beyond His Control vs. Strawman of Bears Fans who Think Cutler is a Straight Up Peyton Manning Clone. He's good. There are some better, but there are a hell of a lot more than that who are worse.

What I don't think helps is he's got a very punchable face and stupid hair. It's true. I like Jay and wish him well. My point, so none of you titheads get confused, is that a lot of fans are unable to separate personality from talent. If a guy looks/acts/is a douche and struggles a little or a lot, it's very easy to pile on and turn your back on him. Even if that guy has a lot of talent.

In this case, I think the whiner tag that he came here with is going to be very difficult for Jay to shake and that's just a fact. I don't judge him by that and I know SKO doesn't. I'm just saying a lot of people do. Also, for further clarification: those people are wieners.

I don't want Jay to be cool or friendly or pose for endless photographs with sick kids. I want him to win and not die because he's on my favorite team. So yeah, I'm pretty bummed that the offensive line decided to let him get pounded like yesterday's beef.

Indeed. We discussed this in the shoutbox the other day. Do I think he's probably a douche? Yes. He's dating Kristin Cavallari. He is actually friends with Greg Olsen outside of Halas Hall. I'm sure he's a douche. So are 99.9% of all professional athletes, which is only slightly above the 95.5% rate for the rest of the human population. But Jesus, that has nothing to do with what a guy does on the field. See: Vick, Michael. Roethlisberger, Ben. Taylor, Lawrence, and, worst of all: Marino, Dan.

You're WRONG.  Those guys are just regular blue collar joes like me, and someday they'll randomly stumble into whatever bar me and my buddies are drinking in and sit down and shoot the shit with us and realize how awesome I am and maybe get me a tryout, because damn could I play in high school.

Back in undergrad, Dan Marino's HS Alum, Pittsburgh Central Catholic held its team out of the Western PA playoffs because nobody would rat out the perpetrators of a pandemic of teabagging on the the team.  While most people made priest jokes, I to this day believe Dan Marino returns to Central Catholic every year to teabag the fine young men of its football team.

After all, that is a hall of fame nutsack.

Dear Chase,

I feel like I can call you Chase because you and me are so much alike. I would love to meet you someday. It would be great to have a catch. I know I can't throw as fast as you, but I think you would be impressed by my speed. I love you hair. You run fast. Did you have a good relationship with your father? Me neither. These are all things we can talk about. And more. I know you have not been getting my letters because I know you would write back if you did. And I hope you write back this time and we get to be good friends. I'm sure our relationship would be a real home run.

I don't want to spam up the messageboard by starting a thread for this, so I'll stick it here.

Tailgaiters... or friends of such: Do you want to be in a Craftsman commericial? If you or someobody you know has rigged up some Chicago sports team stuff and likes to tailgate with it, let me know and I'll set you up with a dude who is looking for "talent" for some advertisements for Craftsman. If you know somebody that has painted a van Bears colors or constructed a nacho helmet or whatever, they could be famous for their ingenuity. Yay?

Here's the lowdown. I promise it's legit.

----

It's a Craftsman sponsored event/ show that will detail some of the innovations from the DIY tailgating community.  Please let me know soon if you know of anyone that would be interested in talking about their personalized item while being filmed.

Premise:
Bring in various individuals from the (DIY) football/baseball/basketball/hockey community to talk about their history with their own sports team and their unique innovations.  This will be focused on the Do it Yourself aspect through personalization of things such as:

·    Barbecue pits/ grills
·    Deep fryers,
·    Winnebago's,
·    Transportation to the game (Vans, Trucks, Trailers, Buses, etc.)
·    Clothing and gear
·    Food and beverage dispensers.

---

Thanks for any info you can throw out.

I'm so tired of arguing Jay Cutler vs. Platonic Ideal Quarterback.

Cutler aside, I'm not sure I understand this point...are you pointing out guys who had bad seasons, but then won Super Bowls or guys who had bad Super Bowls and won them or just guys who only had a few good seasons?

Because the above list seems like a mix of all those things.

For the meatheads he doesn't show enough FIRE OR PASHUN during the game. He needs to be constantly screaming and yelling at everybody in order to for the Bears to win.

For the meatheads he doesn't show enough FIRE OR PASHUN during the game. He needs to be constantly screaming and yelling at everybody in order to for the Bears to win.

He's the Carlos Zambrano of football, except the opposite when it comes to showing emotion.  So in that way, he's like the Milton Bradley of football.  But he's white, so he's a  little more likeable.

I though the Zambrano comparison was more apt. They're both the balls and yet are hated for their personality and their on-field performance is judged by some vague, unquantifiable standard. CARLOS ISN'T AN ACE because he hasn't ever won 20 games or won a World Series while Jay just ISN'T A FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK because he loses a lot of games, and as we all know, good quarterbacks never play for losing teams. It just doesn't happen.

I would say that Carlos isn't an ace primarily because his control isn't good enough.  QUANTIFY THAT.  I also think that the arrow on Jake's career is pointing upwards, whereas the soon-to-be-30 Carlos goes down from here.

Comparison: Shitty.

Ok, I can't disagree with that. Also, I meant to say this after your 10th 3,000 word post, but damn you can be long-winded sometimes, but fuck, I don't know if there's anyone else I'd rather go with me in a Bears fan battle. If it's tug-of-war, we're flipping the coin for the back.

Also, I wanted to address this after the Packers game, but I never got around to it. The consensus after the game was that the Packers were dumb for kicking to Hester. I disagree. Nothing about the Bears' punt return (aside from that return) has shown me that they are a force to be reckoned with like they were in the Super Bowl year (and the year after). The threat is always there with Devin but the same can be made for any returner, because there are some fast morgans out there.

Also, on that same accord, if someone has a TD return, I don't understand the fear of kicking to them in subsequent KOs/Punts. Statistically speaking, if someone gets a TD on a punt return (or KO), the likelihood of them returning the next for a TD drops dramatically. (Lovie should pay attention to that, e.g. Falcons 2008) The situation in Seattle, where Washington took two back, I would have to say is more of an anomaly as opposed to anything else.

I don't like the strange perception that Cutler doesn't have the FIRE AN PASHIN to lead an NFL team. When I see this guy take the kind of punishment he's taken the past two years and continue to peel himself up off the turf and keep slinging the fucking rock all over the field it tells me all I need to know about how motivated and proud and tough he is. A common motherfucker would bitch out and refuse to continue to work. A weak-minded individual would blow up and scream bloody murder or demand a trade.

Right there with you. He's far from a crybaby. I may think I'm quite the stud because of my AWESOME HS football credentials, but there's no fucking way I can call any of them crybabies or pussies, because one hit from Jay Feely, and I'd be down for the count.

It's al relative. But how do you think Phillip Rivers or Ben Rapelisburger would react to the kind of on and off-field hits this dude has taken since he got here? Not half as well as Jay, I promise you. I defy anyone to argue otherwise. Fuck you.

All that. If Cutler and Joakim were Packers or Vikings or Knicks I'd want them to die for being douches. But they're OUR douches. So I like them.

Also them. Obviously I'm biased here but I think Cutler's assbaggery, other than the occasional hangdog look after getting his nuts stomped, is kept off the field. He may have threesomes with Hills stars and G-Reg and be the Crown Prince of Chaddery once he leaves Halas Hall, but at least he's not a preening smarmdickle presenting his ass to fans like Rodgers was last week.

How do you compare Cutler to Noah? When did Cutler ever manage to take two full seasons off from caring or competing and basically acting like a professional. One decent year from Noah and everybody in Chicago is treating him like he's fucking Spiderman. That's so Chcago. (replaces Tyler Colvin's dong in mouth)

It's al relative. But how do you think Phillip Rivers or Ben Rapelisburger would react to the kind of on and off-field hits this dude has taken since he got here? Not half as well as Jay, I promise you. I defy anyone to argue otherwise. Fuck you.

Fuck me for responding to this, but I think we've already seen how Ben responds to countless on-field hits, playing behind that shit offensive line for years.

As for the off-field hits, he certainly took plenty after the motorcycle crash and the first rape accusation (and just the myriad, confirmed suspicions that he's always been a gigantic douchebag).

I guess we'll see more after he returns this time, but he's certainly taken plenty of hits, both off and on the field.

Cry baby? Give me a fuckin' break.

I'd say the raping and the fact that his teammates reportedly hate his guts are indicators that Ben is who we thought he is. And he can come back and play decent and let the best defense in pro-football carry his team deep into the playoffs. Then you'll undoubtedly come in here and act like you were right. I'm going to set my watch to that and wear it on my belt.

Didn't Roethlisberger respond to the first wave of hits by winning the 2nd Super Bowl?

I'm not saying they're comparable athletes because of their level of talent or accomplishments. They're similar in that people who don't root for the Bears or Bulls generally don't like them because of their stupid faces and personalities. So thanks for proving my point.

Statistically speaking, if someone gets a TD on a punt return (or KO), the likelihood of them returning the next for a TD drops dramatically.

Are you saying it's less likely because the other team will make adjustments?  Or that it's statistically less likely, purely because of the previous return TD?

Not "must" but "more likely to". And it does have something to do with adjustments, but also the likelihood of that kind of play happening. The NFL isn't like HS football where a great player can literally run circles around an opposing team. Even the great returners in the NFL are stopped for a "normal return" more often than not. The odds of this happening does derive from the quality of the opposing players as well as your own players. Adjustments can factor in. If you swap out your gunners because they're not containing like they should, then that can factor in. All of this factors in to basically show that, immediately after a successful punt/KO return for a TD, then the odds of it happening the next time drop drastically.

Statistically speaking, if someone gets a TD on a punt return (or KO), the likelihood of them returning the next for a TD drops dramatically.

Are you saying it's less likely because the other team will make adjustments?  Or that it's statistically less likely, purely because of the previous return TD?

I think he's saying that if you flip a coin and it lands heads 10 times in a row, it must land on tails the 11th time.

So, if Evan Longoria gets a hit in his first at bat tomorrow, his chances of getting a hit in his second at bat are less than they were in his first at bat?

But not STATISTICALLY speaking, as you said.  In fact, the statistical odds increase because the returner's rate of returns-for-touchdowns is now higher after the previous return.

Because, absent such things, I'd have to say that independent events are independent events are independent events.

So, the law of large numbers doesn't indicate that over time the numbers will average out to the norm? Also, comparing hits to Punt Return TDs isn't apt. I don't think 25% of Punts are returned for TDs (it's probably closer to 5%). 25% of ABs result in hits, though.

I don't think you get how "regression to the mean" works.

We'll take Longoria as out example...

He's a career .283 hitter.

Say he hits at .450 for the first month of a season. Regression to the mean doesn't suggest he's therefore more likely to hit .166 the second month to even out his overall BA at .283.

Rather, regression to the mean suggests (more or less) that he's likely to hit .283 going forward and that the overall average will therefore gradually fall back to Earth as a consequence.

Independent events.

Part of the reason that I wanted to stay away from baseball as a comparison is because baseball is more "vacuum-y" (if you will) than football. There are more factors involved in foosball. Like I said originally, part of it has to do with opposing adjustments that have more of an effect on the next instance (or return).

So, I said teams shouldn't make adjustments or don't make adjustments? The return is the mainly result of an "error" if you will, a mistake, usually by the kicking team (not in the lane, bad punt, pisspoor tackling, etc). Based on the fact that the majority of returns aren't taken back for 100 yards every time, it stands to reason that the following return won't yield the exact same circumstances and results (a TD).

So, the law of large numbers doesn't indicate that over time the numbers will average out to the norm?

I don't think you get how "regression to the mean" works.

We'll take Longoria as out example...

He's a career .283 hitter.

Say he hits at .450 for the first month of a season. Regression to the mean doesn't suggest he's therefore more likely to hit .166 the second month to even out his overall BA at .283.

Rather, regression to the mean suggests (more or less) that he's likely to hit .283 going forward and that the overall average will therefore gradually fall back to Earth.

Part of the reason that I wanted to stay away from baseball as a comparison is because baseball is more "vacuum-y" (if you will) than football. There are more factors involved. Like I said originally, part of it has to do with opposing adjustments that have more of an effect on the next instance (or return).

I get that adjustments matter.

I'm just not sure that you do.

Because you're argument seems to boil down to: don't worry about making adjustments to your kicking game (by not kicking it to Hester the second time)... the adjustments to your kicking game will surely stop him!

The NFL isn't like HS football where a great player can literally run circles around an opposing team.

I get it now. You're messing with everyone.

You've never seen a HS football game where there was one player who was insanely better than anyone else? I know I have a propensity to attend these to scope out the local wool, but you should see some more of it. It's actually a pretty good time.

A couple weeks ago, I covered a high school game (excuse the shitty writing) (http://football.dailyherald.com/story/?id=410742) where a running back had 276 rushing yards in the first half. He figuratively ran circles around the opposing team.

I also covered a HS football game where they had a guy running on the track throughout the game. He was an older man, and I doubt he could really do anything of consequence (except fumble the ball and get injured) if they put him into the game. Funny thing was that he literally ran circles around BOTH teams.

CORRECTED: Ovals. He literally ran ovals around both teams.

#Bears signing DE Charles Grant per @vxmcclure23. He will take place of Mark Anderson, who was cut per his agent.

Didn't the Anderson over Brown experiment fail once before? Nice choice, Lovie.

Brown was owed a 5 or 6 Mildo roster bonus so it was an easy choice. But not the right choice, Jerry.

Well then they should have cut Tommie instead. And yeah, I like Alex Brown probably more than he deserves, but he was reliable dammit.

You cannot EXAGGERATE "literally." The most unique thing about the word literal is that when you misuse it, you are using it exactly wrong.

It would be ok if Thrill didn't steal Eli's password to bust pedantnuts over the usage of a word when the meaning of what was supposed to be conveyed was clearly understood.

If the meaning was clear to everyone, no one would have to call you on it.

So the talent disparity in the lower ranks of sports is literally not known?
No.

Bort literally does not know of the talent disparity in the lower ranks of sports would be more precise.  "Is not known" is passive. Prefer the active voice.

All right, who let William Strunk, Jr., steal TJ's password to bust pedantnuts over the usage of a sentence of what understood meaning then which it was be to clearly conveyed supposed?

Eli, such pedantfhaggotry is an outrage up with which I shall not put!

Bah. I thought it was a mirage then. I mean, I didn't think he'd turn out to be the completely useless fucking pile of suck, but he fell off after they lost Tommie in 2006 and any run of the mill pure pass rusher could have gotten those sacks with the defense double teaming Harris and Ogunleye.

Now that the Bears have drug cheats bookending their defensive line, does it really matter if they win the Super Bowl? I mean that shit's gonna come with an asterisk on it anyway amirite? We won't know for sure until Bob Costas weighs in on Sunday night but I think we're hosed.

QuoteGrant is also one of the active players in the league involved in the StarCaps case. He potentially faces a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's steroids policy when the case is completed.

I agree with you on one level, but I really feel like if the line is going to get a guy killed Sunday, it might as well be Collins. Then they can bring in Hanie and let him hand off 15 times and call it a day.

You all know what's going to happen, right?

1) Collins will have a decent passing day, like 19-33 250 yards, 2 TD 1 INT and the Bears will beat Carolina.
2) Cutler will be held out of the Seattke game as a precautionary measure, and Collins will have a similar game against another shitty team.
3) Cutler will play the Redskins and have a "terrible game," like 21-39, 240 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT, and all the meatballs will be calling for him to be benched as the Bears lose.
4) Bye week will be spent debating who should start: Collins or Cutler....
5) Rick Morrissey and David Huh will write compelling pro-Collins pieces.
6) On Halloween, Ditka will take some hacks at Cutler during the most unwatchable NFL show ever. "I useta have a golden-boy QB who was always hurt so I hadta play Rusty Licks, Greg Landries, Steve Fullers and Doug Flutie and Mike Tomachack. Those guys were gamers, guys I wanted to have." The press will report this.
7) Lovie will repeat "Jay is our quarterback" in the week leading up to the Buffalo game in Canada.
8) With Kurt Evans and his photoshops in the vicinity, Jay will be thoroughly confused and bluff his way through the Bills game. The Bears still win, but Cutler looks terrible.
9) Collins is named the starter for the home game vs. Minnesota. He starts for the rest of the season as the 6-2 Bears enter a stretch in which they play Minnesota, at Miami, Philly, at Detroit, New England, at Minnesota, New York Jets, and at Green Bay. Bears beat Detroit and finish 7-9.
10) Cutler demands a trade and winds up in Tennessee for a 3rd round draft pick.
11) Derek Anderson is the starting QB in 2011.
