Just in case you were in any doubt: the rest of the World is half laughing, and half aghast at America.  We used to think Slivio Berlusconi was a international embarrassment, and then along came the GOP nomination race.

No one cares what Australians think. Go USA!

I wondered how long it would take for someone to get ever-so-slightly butthurt about what I'd said, and considering it's the weekend, that's quicker than I expected, so well done.  My money was on SKO or Dubbs, though.

You completely misinterpret my faux jingoism. I merely nodded in shame when you said that.

Furthermore, I didn't sense any butthurt on Sterling Archer's part either.

I think Tonker has revealed himself as deliberately attempting to stickpoke and then responding with an itchy trigger finger as soon as he got any reply.  Pretty sure no American disagrees with the sentiment.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.

There are various people on this board, and in the Shoutbox [*sad face*] who reply to criticism of the USA with "false jingoism" or "Go USA!" but whose inate patriotism is nonetheless just eversoslightly riled by it.  When you've spent your entire life being told how awesome America is, and are sharing a country with millions of people who genuinely believe that it's the greatest place on Earth, it's not hard to see how some of that is going to rub off, regardless of how much of a realist you are.  I just like to know who's who.

Hell, if somebody who's not British starts slagging off Britain, there's still something in me that doesn't like it, and I left that place sixteen years ago because I didn't like it.  Don't be ashamed.

This kind of makes me sad...both because I'm not sure what Tonker means but also because of the people he's met in person, also being many of the same I know personally, don't strike me as that archetype.  Is my inference off?

I don't see it either.
I mean we're all jerks but I haven't picked up on an overly sensitive love it or leave it vibe.

Am I misunderstanding you Tonk?

Ach, relax, chaps.  Other than SKO, you're not overly sensitive about it at all - indeed, for Yanks, most of you are remarkably objective about your national failings.  Nonetheless, it's human nature to react negatively to criticism from outsiders, and as one of those outsiders, I enjoy stickpoking that and seeing who bites.

Now, though, I feel bad for making you all so disappointed and sad.

I used to consider myself a fiscal conservative, social liberal and now I support Sanders, which means I'm nothing like the man I used to be when I left Buttpuddle for bluer pastures. I mostly support him because he's not Hillary or Biden though. I think he would at least ATTEMPT to shake up the financial sector and try to avoid the same catastrophic fiscal policies that the Clintons and Republicans rode with pom poms waving right into a global economic meltdown. I think he'd have about as much success as Trump would have putting up a giant fence around the country but that's where I stand.

I've often wondered why people despise Obama so much - besides just outright racism - when if you compare him to the current field of lackwits the prospect of begging him to stay 8 more years looks like our best bet. I'm sure he'd refuse with double barreled middle digits blazing and we're completely fucked through the floor.

You guys with kids are braver than I am. I have about 30-40 years left on this rock before I check out and I'm not really looking forward to them.
