I think that the strategy to beat Trump is clear. Attack him about pointless things and let him rant about it on tv and during the debates. People attack his hand size, and he starts talking about how beautiful they are and how he's well hung during a debate. Why is nobody talking about his hair? His awful "tan"?

We'll see if it beats him, I doubt it. Him and his supporters thrive off the fact that the establishment hates him, what was obviously an incredibly well coordinated conspiracy to attack him and him alone will only feed the paranoia of his supporters.

I think "Trump feeds on the establishment's hate" is a myth that he has cultivated. From what I've read, his numbers go down every time he participates in a debate, as people see more and more of the clown revealed. He still has a sizeable following, no doubt, and there's a certain segment of the population that loves to see him knock people down, but nobody looks good when they demonstrate how butthurt they are in front of a wide audience. I would love to see a candidate say something like, "your hair looks like a rat's nest that was formed in the corpse of a dead cat." It would get him off message immediately, and make him look like a buffoon.

Ted Cruz ate a booger last night, and that still only made him the second most ridiculous guy up there.

The hope for this country is that the support for Trump all resides within the Republican voters, so he's getting maybe 40% during the general election.

If Trump gets as much as 40% of the popular vote, which I admit is likely (if not even below what he'll actually do), then the United States needs an enema even worse than we thought. That's an awfully high number of blithering idiots for one country to sustain.

I'd agree if the Democrats were running anybody but Hillary.

He'd probably get that against Bernie as well.

Bernie isn't running against two decades of people hating him with white-hot intensity.

But he is running against like 8 decades of Americans being told that socialism means the government takes everything you own and then also tells you God is dead while creepy leftists like Bort come in with their jackboots and piss on your bibles.

Fork I think you underestimate how much so many Americans would despise Bernie once they woke up during the general.

Right, the man's a wild-haired, bespectacled Jewish socialist. The right would have him successfully painted as a godless Trotsky in about two seconds while CNN is still trying to "hear both sides" on whether or not the KKK is bad.

Well, he kinda is.

He's basically Stew with worse hair.

Oh yeah no I didn't mean that part as exaggeration. I was just pointing out that he already fits the stereotype, using his own words against him and exploiting the fact that socialism is a horrifying dirty word millions of Americans don't actually understand would be a very easy thing to do.

I understand. I'm a no-haired, bespectacled fallen Catholic political skeptic. And the majority of people hate me too.

EDIT: I'm going outside, I love you all but it's too nice a day to do this. See you crumb-bums later.

I agree.  My hair is clearly my best feature.  But for that Bernie and I could have been separated at birth.  (Except I was born about 6 years before he was.  That would have been one tough labor.)

Think of all the work Larry David could get. He and Will Ferrell's George W. Bush on practically every week on SNL. (And I dunno, I guess Jay Pharoah's Obama? Or back to Fred Armisen in blackface?) Performing their political comedy bits.
You two wanna go stick your wangs in a hornet's nest, it's a free country.  But how come I always gotta get sloppy seconds, huh?

Cruz is a stubborn (but brilliant) son of a bitch who gets admirers because he stakes himself to a difficult position and sticks to it. There's a saying that the squishy "establishment" types can't identify a hill to die on, while people like Cruz are all too willing to die. Personality-wise he's unlikable, but he has true believers because he takes his job seriously. Maybe too much so.

Via Eli, here is Ted Cruz taking his job seriously by choosing a good man to introduce him.

That video had some ... interesting production value. And whenever I need to discredit Ted Cruz, I go straight to Donald Trump supporters on Twitter. Very reliable sources.
