There's a lot of baseball left to be played. This is not like Bill Clinton coming out of Super Tuesday in 1992 with Tsongas and Gephardt types just shrugging their shoulders, or Bush beating Dole here in Illinois in 1988. Trump won't be the nominee.

Someday after this election, when T.J. is either in a mental institution or in jail, we'll mark this thread as the turning point.

So if Kasich and Rubio each biff on their home states, do they drop out?

Or does the GOP establishment make them stay in, in hopes their meager delegate counts prevent Trump from getting a majority?

And how awesome would it be to see these two be forced to carry something to term against their will?

This is a disaster. All of it. How did we end up here.

I think tomorrow is the last day of the pathetic Rubio campaign.

Kasich lives to fight another day.

Despite disagreeing with almost everything Rubio believes in, I've started to feel sorry for him.

He was asked the other day if he'd still vote for Trump, and he gave a 1,000 yard stare, and sounded utterly fucking exhausted as he said "I've said how bad I think Hillary Clinton would be for America and as of right now I still intend to support our nominee...*sigh* but it's getting harder every day"

I saw that, and while it isn't quite sympathy, I didn't feel the malicious glee I thought I would. Poor bastard.

So, now that he's out, what's to stop him NOT endorsing Trump?  I can't imagine the GOP establishment would have a problem with that - they want to choose somebody, anybody else anyway - and he'd buy himself a huge amount of goodwill from non-Trump supporters.

I don't see anyway he endorses Trump after that concession speech tonight. He and Cruz aren't exactly tight, but I assume he goes that way.

I really understand the Bortist approach of saying "fuck it" and not voting if you find all candidates reprehensible, especially Hillary. I don't really understand bothering to go through the trouble of voting only to cast said vote for someone who isn't even in the race. I mean even if you went just to vote against Anita Alvarez or whatever why not just leave the presidential portion of the ballot blank?

I don't begrudge Bort. But I'm conflicted because this is an unprecedented type of candidate in Trump. If it was something like Kerry-Bush and you're really meh about both, that's fine. But I feel like there's a moral imperative to do whatever we can to stop a potential Hitler-type of situation. I don't think this is really a "lesser of two evils" thing. There's evil and there's evil.

All I ask is that no one is proud of or smug about voting in this election. Do what your conscience tells you, but don't pretend this is anything but a shameful choice forced on us all by a system that is flawed in the extreme.

Oh I agree, and in a state that might possibly be a swing state (although I doubt it, given Iowa went for Obama twice and Trump didn't even win the caucus here), I will certainly feel obligated to vote to stop the fascist. In a hard blue state like Illinois, Bort is probably free to keep himself clear of the taint of ever having voted for a woman he finds utterly reprehensible.

True story--I'm not nearly as into the candidates as I was in my younger years but I went to the polls to vote against Alvarez.

I then saw that of the two challengers to Alvarez, one was Foxx, with 2 "X"'s and the other was Donna More, but without to "O''s.  They seemed like fake porn names crafted up by the jokesters at Cook County party Central to make things look transparent, but in any event I decided to go with Foxx and not More.

Looks like I guessed right.
