If the Republicans refuse to hold a hearing on Garland, I hope Obama keeps putting reasonable options up for consideration. Then, when Hillary wins by like 350 electoral votes over Drumpf/Cruz, she can say "America has had their say" and nominate Bernie Sanders Obama himselffor the seat.

Even better'd.

I was thinking Obama would be a good compromise pick after they refused to hold hearings on Sanders.

Here's the thing...

Being an Associate Justice after being POTUS would be a downgrade. The only former President to ever sit on the Supreme Court was Taft, and he served as Chief Justice. I think Obama would only want to do it if he were replacing Roberts.

None of you live in the 5th district with Ken Dunkin, right? If you do, and voted against him, I thank you

Why? Because Mike Madigan is doing such a great job?

Because Dunkin was absent for a vote on union arbitration and then all of a sudden flush with cash from Dan Proft, a Rauner ally.

And there's also him appointing Raymond Poe (local R that voted with his constituents on AFSCME stuff) to the Director of Ag. He did something similar with Wayne Rosenthal. He replaced them with Sara Wojcicki-Jimenez, his wife's former chief of staff, and Avery Bourne, a 22 year old student that worked on his campaign and likely hasn't had a real job, respectively.

He also sunk over a million dollars to take down Sam McCann, who I would bet got the same offer that Poe and Rosenthal did but refused, but McCann prevailed.

So, yea, whatever that can be done to stiffly say "fuck you" to the Governor is fine by me.

No hearing for Obama's Supreme Court nominee, McConnell says

QuoteSenate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Wednesday shot down the idea of Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland getting a hearing.

McConnell insisted in a floor speech that the vacancy should be filled by the next president.

"The next justice could fundamentally alter the direction of the Supreme Court and have a profound impact on our country, so of course the American people should have a say in the court's direction," he said.
"The Senate will continue to observe the 'Biden Rule' so the American people have a voice in this momentous decision. The American people may well elect a president who decides to nominate Judge Garland for Senate consideration. The next president may also nominate somebody very different. Either way, our view is this: Give the people a voice in filling this vacancy."

Hey Illinois, way to suck.

I voted for O'Malley. Seriously.

Because it's almost Saint Patricks day?

Because Chuck.

I really understand the Bortist approach of saying "fuck it" and not voting if you find all candidates reprehensible, especially Hillary. I don't really understand bothering to go through the trouble of voting only to cast said vote for someone who isn't even in the race. I mean even if you went just to vote against Anita Alvarez or whatever why not just leave the presidential portion of the ballot blank?

I don't begrudge Bort. But I'm conflicted because this is an unprecedented type of candidate in Trump. If it was something like Kerry-Bush and you're really meh about both, that's fine. But I feel like there's a moral imperative to do whatever we can to stop a potential Hitler-type of situation. I don't think this is really a "lesser of two evils" thing. There's evil and there's evil.

All I ask is that no one is proud of or smug about voting in this election. Do what your conscience tells you, but don't pretend this is anything but a shameful choice forced on us all by a system that is flawed in the extreme.

I assure you I will be both solemn and annoyed as I vote for Hillary.

I know I'll be solemn and annoyed as I vote for Hillary.

I'll be solemn and annoyed as I leave the top line blank in November. And then I'll be even more solemn and more annoyed when I vote for Rubio to unseat Hillary in 2020.

Make Chuck Grassley's Twitter feed great again, Hillary.

I've read somewhere that Hillary aught to nominate Obama if the seat is unfilled. That would be kind of awesome.
