OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Hey,,,we fought the American Revolution so we could speak American instead of English. Well, that and English food (Sorry Tonker- if you like eels, that's cool I guess)

Don't knock it if you haven't tried it, Fork.  There's nothing like a nice plate of jellied eels to go with your warm beer.  David Beckham gets them flown (or possibly, swum?) to him in Madrid, and a man of his obvious taste should know.

Besides, everybody knows that all Americans, deep down inside, would love to be British.  Come on, 'fess up - you know you love it.

Not me, I just want to live in whatever bizarre, alternate reality it is that Milford exists in.

Working in Downers Grove, we sometimes get Uncle Bub's catered in for lunch.  It is pretty damn good.

Anyone try the new place in Lincoln Square yet?  I think it's called Horseshoe.  There's also a Woody's right there I haven't tried yet.  There used to be one on Southport, I don't know if it's still there or if the one near Lincoln Square is it in a new location.  I'd eaten at the one on Southport many years ago.

Smokin' Woody's on Lincoln is the same one that used to be on Southport.  They moved from Southport to Lincoln....in 1998.  Way to be up with the times.

In other news, Yum Yum Donuts is gone, all of the Snuggerys are now Alumni Clubs, the Browns Chicken behind the Cubby Bear is now a Taco Bell, and Jane Byrne is no longer mayor of Chicago.

Oh, and Japan surrendered.  The war is over.

I liked when the women were going over the sports metaphors.

So what does it mean when Michael says he got to 2nd base with you?

And they say that men are insensitive.

Hey, if they're willing to play out the whole season in the Baseball Stars video game, I'm all for it.

He "killed" RHP to the tune of .268/.348/.466 last year.  And he's got a weenie arm, which means he'll fit in well in our outfield.

Ok, so maybe I got a little bit excited.  From 02-04 he averaged .280/.333/.474 vs RHP.  He's a very good hitter vs RHP.  Remember, this isn't a guy we're asking to hit leadoff or 3rd or 4th.  This is a 6th or 7th spot hitter.   If he puts up his average vs RHP this year (vs RHP) we'll be in a good spot.

He made 4 more assists than Burnitz in almost 30 fewer games.  If his errors are of the throwing variety that means he's gonna catch anything and everything as his Fielding Pct and range are fantastic.

Except that on this team, he's going to hit at least 5th, and considering Dusty's love of the right-left-right batting order, it isn't farfetched to think that the Jock will be hitting cleanup.

It really should'v been a 2 year deal with a mutual option for a third year.  I don't mind the signing of Jones as much as the rest of you (although its not the impact signing that I hoped it would be).  He plays great D.  He kills RHP (which you see 90% of the time).  They need to find a way to limit his ABs vs LHP to about 80 (realistically.  Ideally it'd be zero).  And you're not going to compare him to Koery because he's not going to be asked to leadoff and the word "potential" isn't associated with Jones anymore.

Of the FA's in the Sweaty Joe thread....  Byrnes would be a good fit.  So would Ryan Spilborghs (he's got a great eye).  Jamal strong would be alright.  He's fast and would finally give us a good PR.  Decent minor league numbers too.  More importantly he'd only get 100 ABs or so.  Same goes for Wayne Lydon.

Don't forget boys, Big Boy Jim gave up draft picks for this sack of crap because the Twins offered him arbitration.

And we gave up draft picks for Eyre and Howry, too.  Meaning we lost our 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks because of these signings ... very nice work.

But at least we didn't overpay for Furcal...

Well, we've got Pierre and Jacque now, maybe we're going to field the French National Team.

Nothing like being drunk dialed on a message board.

Can Helloworld resurface here, or is a name change necessary to avoid awkwardness?

That's some serious manlove dude.

I recommend "forklift", nobody is using that one.

Smartass

I was wondering if you were going to catch that one.

I liked how Kitty had a blue hand print on the top of her head.

While watching the Sox game last night, I noticed that Bobby Jenks has chalk or resin or something smeared all over the back of his head and the blue hand print on Kitty's head was the first thing I thought of.  Which White Sox player has chalk all over their hands?

Was it me, or did the jokes on AR seem a bit more ribald than they were in the past.  Not that I mind, I thought that last night's episode was as funny as anything I saw in a while.

I can't even remember the exact lines, but my wife was nearly in tears over the scene near the beginning where Michael and Lucille are talking about how she should take a date up to the cabin and she says: "oh please, nobody wants to go near that musty old claptrap" followed by the long pause and Michael's "oh, you mean the cabin".
