OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Desipio Lounge / Re: Post #1908

It looks like I've managed to slow down my Desipio consumption.

16 months and some change?  Have I actually gotten a life?  Oh of course not. I would have come up on this post months ago had the voracious mandible of Ray Ratto not cleared everything out of its way in late 2007.

Since my "last" 1908th post, I have added to the list of idiots that I have met.  I have drank more beer with them, had more laughs.  I've run my record to to 6-0 at Cub games in which I've attended with at least one other Desipiot (excluding Oleg of course).  I'm including the rooftop game from August which was every bit the experience I would have optimistically expected (Oddly, though, I have yet to see the Blackhawks win at the UC when I've been with you jerks (0-1-2).  Thanks a lot, Fork.  Asshole).

However, as I have enjoyed getting to meet and know a bunch of you pricks over the last 4+ years, I'd like to take a minute to salute the "lesser-known" morans who, though they do not obsessively steal all of the space here like some of us post hogs do, are appreciated for their insight, discourse, humor and anecdotes which make this place what it is--the most non-retarded Cubs gathering spot on the interwebs.  At the risk of excluding some of you unsung Desipiots, I'd like to give a shout-out to Wheezer, Taylor, HelloWorld, Indolent Reader, DPappy, Big Drinky, Waco Kid (nee JS), Dave B., Al Czervik, Shooter, Stroke Bwhateverthefuck, Rooster, and yes even Mike C., with whom I may not agree politically but, as he's not afraid to express his views here, validates the shit of this place.  Let freedom reign, motherfuckers.

Also, how awesome is it that Michael thinks You Tube is a production company?

Moody's Pub in Edgewater. Great burger.

Hamburger Mary's in Andersonville. Great burgers and drag queens.

I like Moody's but I'm not all that impressed by the beer selection. The food is decent but for Chicago I don't think it's top tier. Great patio dining in summer though. I could sit there all night.

You can stop right there.  Frankly, I would have thought that Moody's had nothing but Old Pile.  It's not a place to get your drink on unless you woke up in 1979 and went there.  Dark dining room.  Peanuts on the table.  Every time I go there I feel like I've walked into a time machine.  Good burger, though.

I just thought it was interesting that the guy is clearly a good enough actor to play a very funny role without having any concept of what funny is.  They say Steve Martin is like that.

Steve Martin, recent terrible movie sell outs aside, is brilliant.  Comparing Rainn Wilson to him would be like comparing Weebs' analytical skills
to Roger Ebert's

"California L.A. Story" and "Bowfinger" are about as good as comedy can get.  Everything Martin has made since them is dreck.

Surely you wouldn't want all of California to be reduced to Los Angeles' excesses, Stew?

Can we lock Weebs from this thread?

How could anyone not have burst out laughing at least 4 times in this episode?  Does Weebs not pay attention to the secondary characters like Creed and Oscar, or is he like the knuckle-dragging Bears fans around this place who spend way too much time focusing on the quarterback position?  I had almost forgotten about the Pam and Jim storyline until Weebs complained about it, although I did find the idea of Jim's future father-in-law wearing his robe hysterical.

Creed made me laugh at least three times in the episode.

Didn't they focus on his crotch at one point and it looked like he was playing 'pocket pool' or something?  Maybe I was just fantasizing at that point...

With Creed, anything is possible.

When he called out the straight-laced CPR girl as having been a patron at some freaky club, and her stunned reaction that followed...that was classic Creed, if you will.

Lincoln Lanes rules.

Maybe I'll dust off my 8-pound hot pink Bratz-brand ball and my Jimmy Choo-brand bowling pumps.

And my lucky feather boa.

Diversey does have rock 'n' bowl, I think.  Bring your glow sticks.

For teh record, I would be interested in a Desipio Bowling extravaganza.

dress code?

Anyone ever bowl above a hardware store?

I was thinking either there or Southport Lanes.

Oleg, we'd like to stay in Chicago for this.  Please.

Heh.  Dubbs reminds me of  Trixie I worked with back in 1996.  Polynesian girl from Palatine or somewhere.  Probably a Fremd grad.  At the time I was living at Southport and Grace, which was the closest I've ever lived to the lake in 13 years of living in the city.  When I told her I lived on Southport, she crinkled her nose and asked, "Where's Southport?".  I told her "2 blocks east of Ashland" and she responded with "Ewww.  Ashland.  I never go that far.

What's the place that is off of Diversey?  Diversey Lanes?  That'd make sense.  Back behind the Target and that complex on Elston?

Diversey River Bowl.  Oleg is well aware of that place, as am I, as we had a buddy who lived directly across the street from there in 2000.  Damn fine place.  While Lincoln Square is an awesome area to hang out and that bowling alley above Ace Hardware is pretty good, Diversey River most reaches the equilibrium of convenience (even the subhumanites can exit at Fullerton be less than a mile from there), size, space and rowdiness for most of the pleasure seekers here.

On-Hoops.com / Re: Bulls are insignificant right now.
January 27, 2009, 01:49:38 PM
As a casual observer of the Bulls, it seems pretty obvious that the Vinny Delpino hire is a mistake wrapped inside of a tragedy wrapped inside of a clusterfuck.  The last game they played, the Bulls called a timeout at the end when it was still tied, and Del Negro designed a play which...ended up...being four guys standing around and Rose dribbling until he could offer up the lowest percentage shot from the floor.  It makes me wonder what the hell happened during the timeout.  I mean, how lousy is your coach that when the players break from the huddle, nobody knows what the fuck to do?

Here's what needs to happen for this franchise to have any hope before they rightfully decide to blow it up and start over with Rose: John Paxson needs to do what he should have done last year when he launched Skiles--take over the team his own damn self.  No more of this pansy-ass, hiding behind the mess like some sort of Andy MacFail fucktwit.  I like Paxson, always have.  I liked him when he was an All-American at Notre Dame, surrounded by such genetic underacheivers as Orlando Woolridge and Kelly Tripucka.  I liked him when he was the unsung hero of those Bulls teams during the first three-peat.  I liked him when he was first turning the franchise around as a GM in the wake of Crumbs' disaster.  But this shit has jumped the tracks and there's no justification for keeping Paxson around if he's just gonna eschew responsibility for the players he's collected.

Uncle Jerry should tell Paxson to go down to the bench and take over the team.  Give him a  year and a half--the rest of this season and next season--and see if he can't get the team steered back in the right direction.  If he can't, start over.  If he can, then hooray.  I would think that some of these fucknuts like Noah and Thomas may be more apt to listen to the guy who holds their contracts, as opposed to Phil Valvano's waterboy, who commands as much respect from these guys as Benny the Bull.

Good for Patterson.  I had been holding out hope that Governor Doofus would have been ousted shortly after being arrested in December and that Pat Quinn would have made  a similarly unpredictable selection for Obama's vacated Senate seat.

QuotePersonally, I'm happy if the Ricketts group is the new owner. Tom Ricketts is from Chicago and is a Cubs fan, and once lived over one of the bars near the ballpark. If he opens up his wallet -- and I expect he would -- protects my number one motivation for being a fan--Wrigley Field----I think we'll all be very happy with the results.

What that chode really means but is careful about just coming out and saying'd.

Nothing special, but I did have a nice box seat for the time that Hank switched his number from Gabor's gay-assed #9 to the number #24 that he would begin to rule the world with, and this was the first game after the '05 All-Star break, giving me an oh-so brief glimpse of hope that Dusty's collection of complacent ass-grabbers might actually do something.

Vaya con dios, Henry!

Good to see that, even though you're no longer present in the SBox, your legacy of DRLP lives on.

Good to see that, people that don't partake in SBox conversations, need to know what was discussed in the SBox each day.

And we do need this information. You're doing important work, BH. Thank you.

QuoteWant proof of what a bunch of fucking dorks these statfags are? Click here.

When I was in college, the band that all the dorks liked was Pavement. Sebadoh, Super Chunk, Guided By Voices. These are bands that pussy ass faggots liked. The dude from Pavement was always crying because the Smashing Pumpkins were so much better than him. Likewise he resented the Seattle bands.

Want to know what the head faggot of Pavement, Stephen Malkmus, does with his spare time? Gay ass fantasy leagues. I guarantee he pores over gay ass shit like fag shares and ZORP too. This is the kind of rock group that Faggous Maximus and Shawn D. Goldman listen to. What a bunch of fucking idiots.

Can you imagine Shawn D. Goldman trying to defend someone in the post in basketball? Are you fucking serious? If you're playing football and you've got the ball... and the tackler ahead is Gauis Faggimous, do you A, run right; B, juke left; or C, run right at the faggot and watch him dip out of the way? Obvious answer.

I hate fucking Pavement. That band always sucked because he didn't have the guts to be emotional and honest in his writing. He's a pussy. So now he spends his time poring over stats in Fag Leagues. Fucking faggot.

Irish Yeti has a blog?

Yea, what of it, faggot?

In character'd.
