OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Please.  I beg of you.  Leave me behind in the 19th Century.  Or the Eighteenth.  I would even consider the Middle Ages if you could guaranty me immunity from the Plague.

But you'd be okay with the Inquisition?

Of course, no one expects it.

At least the Spanish one, whose chief weapon is surprise.

Called Hoff's excellent swing on the pinch-dong off Ohka. Second time he's called a HoffPOWER Jimmy-Jack this season.

Fucking awesome. I'm a little too happy right now.

<---- FACE'd

I called it too.  From the bleachers.  I won money.

I saw the bleachers empty out pretty quickly after that...where did everyone go now that there's no more Hi-Tops?

Take a walk down Clark St. some time. Its douche runneth over.

Go to Goose Island--it's the one place I haven't felt like I've been in a crowd of douchiness.  Maybe it's that they charge $5 for a pint of non-swill.  They should bottle it and call it 'Douche Repellent' instead of beer.  At least their IPA and Bourbon County Stout, and probably their Oatmeal Stout too.

The food sucks.

Get the beer nachos with steak.  I won't say anything else on the menu is good there, but those are tits out awesomeness.

But mediocre food is worth surviving for good beer and no douchebags.  Is there a place in Wrigleyville that has good food?

Haven't been, but I've heard good things about Lucky's Sandwich Company.

Also, books and TV shows being discussed in the Dead Pool, food being discussed in the Lounge...just what the hell is going on here?

MODS!!!

Twisted Spoke had some good sammiches before it closed down. I'm sure that's helpful.

I just went to the Twisted Spoke that is still open on Sunday.  Great, great food and a beer selection that would make uppity beerfags like Apex & BH happy.  And the outdoor rooftop seating makes for a great view of the middle levels of some buildings and the roofs of a few others.

Smut and eggs?

OK, I am finished now.  Still, would like to send out one last plug for our brilliant right (should be left) fielder. The only site you ever need when completely pasted.

I'd like to vote for Al as much as possible (Thanks, again, for this great blog!).

I think I'll refrain until I know how many visitors that site gets and all that. I haven't looked ta tit too closely, but any tournament with Rick Morrissey and Phil Rogers must be good. I love their writing, it's insightful and relevant!

Congrats, Al! Hopefully, this can only mean that you'll get the credibility you so deserve!

Which one of you is OK1972?  Coffee came out my nose when I read this.

Anyone still believe there's no need for a dominant closer?

A dominant closer?  Yes, I still believe that.  A dominant bullpen, another story altogether.  In fact, I would argue this Cubs bullpen is an argument for why spending resources on a dominant closer is foolish.  Wood, Marmol, and Howry cost less than Wagner.  Which would you rather have?

Wood has a hometown-discount contract. If he went on the open market, you can bet your tiny hairy ass he'd get Wagner money.

Still, if he keeps this up...maybe it's just naiveté on my part...I see the Cubs paying him whatever he deserves and keeping him here. He's been fucking awesome.

Say what you want about Hendry, but no Cubs' FA that Hendry has wanted to stay here hasn't stayed.

Wood ain't going anywhere.

He gave a bit of a hometown discount this year, although most of it was a history of injury discount.  He will cost next year.  That said, I agree, it's not my money, although I wish it were.

Quote.. personal photography attacks, vulgarity, and other uncivilized forms of expression are not welcome. Thanks.

As a guy who got banned for making fun of those pictures of each home game  he posts, which I believe I said looked like they were "taken from the moon", I don't think this part is correct, "BCB encourages and welcomes all opinions,"

You missed the fine print'd

Let's not go JOing ourselves yet.  If we keep winning, who gives a shit when this douchecalf is coming back.  Let's not forget, we are the ones we've been waiting for!

Bah, you do know you are posting on desipio, right?

Rooting for Lassie has left me at my breaking point and now you say no JO when the team chasing the Cubs loses their best player and said team is the Tards and said player is Uncle Albie.

Well, it's simply too much.  Too much I say.  Screw the JO, bring on the ghey stuff ... AND an Andy Dolan Special.

I'll take three weeks. Better than nothing.

Three weeks minimum.

We're probbaly looking at a month.  Considering the Tards have already played a boatload of home games and are still 2 1/2 back, even an above-expected 12-16 month might be all it takes to finish the tweety birds.

Yeah, I was thinking this might be enough to get rid of the nuisance that is the hated fowl.

Pooholes win-share for the year is 14 (as of 6/5) when they had played 65 games.  His win-share per game is a little over .22.  So, if he misses say 25 games, the Cards are looking at 6 or so extra losses.  Nice.

Hopefully, he develops markprioritis while recuperating.

Cards got another win today.  How the hell is Todd Wellemeyer 7-1 with a 2.92 ERA this year?  For that matter, how come failed Cubs pitchers always seem to blossom under another pitching coach's tutelage?

I don't know if it happens all that often.  How many times have failed Cubs pitchers had extended success after sucking with the Cubs?

It's possible my white-hot hatred for Fraudschild has clouded my memory, but didn't Mitre turn out to be a serviceable starter, i.e. better than he was here?  And Juan Cruz has done pretty well for himself since leaving (6.05 in 2003 vs. 2.75 in Atlanta in 2004, 3.10 in AZ in 2007)

You're right -- Cruz has turned into a decent middle reliever for the D-Backs.  But he was never really bad when he was here.  I think he didn't live up to the hype, and people got tired of waiting for him to be the next Pedro Martinez.

Mitre has had an ERA of 4.89 since leaving the Cubs, pitching his home games in a gigantic ballpark, so I'm not too upset about him.

Oh, no?  What if I remind you that they traded him for JUAN PIERRE?  He could have a 25.00 ERA, and I'd be mad they traded him for that sack of crap.

Nolasco would look pretty good in Jason Marquis uniform and Pinto could be sporting the Jebus cutter's duds.  That was a horse unicorn shit trade.

I think Thrillho had the right idea, but why not swing through Iowa City and pick up ChuckD and DaveB on our way? If we do this, we can avoid St. Louis altogether.

Can we make a quick detour to ride double on uni-horned, bareback horsies under the rainbows?

I'm intrigued by the woman in the bottom left corner.  Who is she and what is she doing there?

That's Jane "the Hack" O'bibbons, she edits Dusty's newsletter.  If you are interested in subscribing, I know where you can.

Hmm. which would I rather have.

ERA    WHIP
4.96    1.61    Marquis
3.94    1.26    Maddux (and these are his Petco-included season numbers)

I'm with my fellow Hoosier on this one.  If Maddux can be had for little, get him and release Marquis.  Plus, you get a pitching coach for the youngsters.

Are you mad, helloWorld?!... You've got it running backwards!!

Mad as a scientist.  You see, hypnotic memory suppression of the Phil Roger's +/- system failed when using counter-clockwise spiraling.  My new hypothesis is that clockwise spiraling will lead to this important medical breakthrough and save the world.  ... Well, that or mad as a hatter.
