Yea. I might return my preorder. I need about $300 bucks to retain my RewardZone MasterCard Silver Membership. So, I'm going to need all the purchases at Best Buy that I can get.

I don't think Best Buy is that strict with their Silver Membership policy.

Well this is interesting.

I don't know crap about servers and hosts and stuff, but might this be a first step to getting PC gamers and console gamers all playing together?

See, that's what I'm hoping, but I can be almost positive that will never happen, or at least that's not the goal of this IWnet thing.  The main problem (other than hardware complications between consoles and PCs) is that the PC gamers will have such an unfair advantage over the console users that there would be almost no way to off-set the reaction speed of the mouse/keyboard.

I think the matchmaking service is going to be based mostly off of Steam's system, which is a great idea because the in-game stuff they had for World At War on the PC was terrible.  I don't think Infinity Ward will come out and say it, but I think they're doing this almost entirely for the DLC.  For the PC games, they haven't been able to charge for the COD Map Packs, because there's no real way to do it when some people buy the game off Steam, some buy it retail, etc.  But now, if everyone is forced to play the game through this IWnet service, Infinity Ward can control everything as far as server authentication and that sort of thing as opposed to whoever owned the dedicated servers.  Now if you want the newest Map Pack, you pay $10 through IWnet or Steam.  It's really a good idea for them, but it completely changes PC gaming and takes away what is ultimately the best thing about it.

On a related note, the company I work for has been selling pre-orders for MW2 servers for several months now, so they're going to have to refund all that money and lose out on what will likely be thousands and thousands of dollars in sales.  Looks like ol' Weebs may be out of a job soon!

Bottom line it for me: How much is this game going to kick ass and ruin my productivity, via more sick days?

Modern Warfare 2 in third person?

If that's the "huge secret," it's pretty lame.  I don't think I would ever play that mode unless there was something else about it that was actually cool.
