OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Can anyone explain what happens to Eager and Pronger with ten minute misconducts coming after the game ended? They both get 10 minutes added into their PIM but does it have an effect on game three?

Technically they should each have to sit out Game 3.

However, like Malkin's Instigator in last year's Finals, which was also supposed to carry an automatic one-game suspension, it was probably overturned before either guy hit the tunnel.

That's what I assumed. The closest and most recent example was Chara's instigator and game misconduct in the waning seconds of game 5 vs. Buffalo. He wasn't suspended even though the rules specifically state any instigator in the final minutes gets an automatic one game suspension. Wasn't sure what the rules were with 10 minute misconducts but I thought there was something. There has to be a reason for them to be handed out whether it's punishment by suspension or fine.

In this case "automatic" means, most of the time during the regular season, and almost never during the playoffs.  Especially if a big name is involved.

At least in Chara's case, they overruled the instigator suspension because, on reviewing the tape they found that he wasn't actually the instigator.

But, still... That.

DPD.

Anyone try the Bell's Oberon Ale?

I had a guy tell me today that it's a must-have for summer.

I'm usually not a big wheat beer guy, but it did come highly recommended.

I recently had Bell's 2 Hearted Ale and the Kalamazoo Stout which were both excellent, though I'm not a big fan of their Amber.

I practically bathe in Bell's Oberon in the summer. It's not the greatest beer on earth or anything but's easy to get around here and I like it.

That's all I drank whilst in Michigan for this past long weekend.  It was all my in-laws stocked at their place and they they even had it on tap at the restaurant I ate at Sunday night--Boatwerks in Holland--which is right on the water and would seem to fit in with the "Oberon is a must for the summer" kind of beers.  Yes!

The only thing better than the "whilst" are the run-on sentences!

That was great that his biggest hit was on his own teammate. Also, memo to NBC, Carcillo sucks shut up about him.

Dan Carcillo is an absolute game changer.

Honestly, how tough can a guy be when Tomas Kopecky will get right in his face?

INTIMIDATION FAIL

I think I love Kopecky. When Ladd gets healthy, assuming he is for Game 3, Q has a nice dilemma on his hands. Burish might have to sit. How can you sit Kopecky at this point? He's been great. Eager's been great. Burish hasn't done much besides provide excellent commentary for the DVD.

I love that there's no one on this team that I hate right now.

Except maybe that stupid Kim Johnsson.

It was Carter's return to the lineup that left Carcillo a healthy scratch for three games, right?

If I were Ian Laperriere, I'd be watching my back. (I think Carcillo may be jealous of all of Laperriere's teeth, too.)

Misconduct x 2.

Watch Eager from the moment he climbs over the boards. Only one thing on his mind.

And what happened to Pronger's dramatic, taking-it-in-stride nonchalance towards Gentle Ben from earlier?

Someone doesn't want them to know.  I can't keep silent any longer.  The Cubs will never win a pennant as long as Xavier Nady and Jonh Grabow are wearing Cub uniforms.

What do you have against X-Man and Grabber?

I was only using them as a starting point.

Why do you have to start a new thread saying the same thing that's in 42 other threads?

TDUBBS' VALUABLE TIME HAS BEEN WASTED!

Good work, men.

Handshakes all around.

James van Riemsdyk sitting for Carcillo.

Converted winger and pride of Latvia, Oskars Bartulis in for Parent.

It's probably pretty fruitless to hope that Pronger suddenly breaks down after an entire season of playing a ton of minutes at a high level with just a max of six games left.

I'm not really looking for a sudden breakdown.

Just give me a late mental lapse or slow feet on a crucial third period break or something.

Something. Anything.

Leighton starting tonight.

And Carcillo's dirtstache drama queen powers: activated. Perhaps the Flyers' PIM drought is about to end.

Will Laviolette be rolling 13 forwards at the expense of Ryan Parent? That won't require too much adjustment coming off Parent's 41 seconds of ice time in Game 1.

There's that popular maxim that playoff games are won with depth, with top lines canceling each other out. Watching Game 1 via tape delay, I kind of felt like this series was going to flip that back around, with the Hawks' and Flyers' depth canceling each other out and the Cup going to the team that can manage get their top-3 to break free.

And, if the Flyers go with 5 d-men the whole way, logging 30+ minutes every night will have to have some effect on Pronger's dusty old bones, right?

Right?

I mean, that guy is so old.

So who goes to the bullpen?

Wells or GorzawhatshisfuckCHUNKBABYRUUUTH?

3. Silva.

He's been way better than expected, but he still deserves to go to the pen.

Why?

Because "better than expected" is not the same thing as "better than the other starters."

Stats-wise, Silva has the highest FIP among current Cubs starters at 4.19. And his BABIP of .281 suggests he's been luckier than two of the three starters with higher ERAs than him—Gorzelanny (.341) and Wells (.326)—and may be due for a correction.

The third starter with a higher ERA than Silva is Ted Lilly. Lilly is also the only Cubs starter currently valued less than Silva by Fangraphs' WAR rating, due mostly to having pitched 9 fewer innings. (Note that Gorzelanny is currently number 1 in WAR.) But you're not moving Theodore to the bullpen without first fleeing the country with armed escort.

QuoteWhen Texas Gov. Rick Perry visited Iraq in July, Michael says he told him about the problem. According to Michael, Perry called May and put lawyers in touch with the Clauers' attorney, but couldn't do much to alleviate the situation. (Perry's office didn't respond to calls seeking comment.)

I guess Governor of Texas really is no more than a figurehead position (as I've always heard) if Perry has no means of intervening on behalf of a soldier whose home was sold out from under him through fraud or incompetence:

QuoteThere are a bevy of laws that are supposed to protect servicemembers from losing their homes or jobs while they're on active duty, including the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). The homeowners' association's lawyer filed an affidavit wrongly claiming that neither of the Clauers was on active duty, says Barbara Hale, the couple's lawyer. Hale is seeking to have the court reverse the foreclosure and declare it "null and void," she says.
