That fucking slider.
I'd love to have a GIF of that Goldschmidt K.

It set right that 3-run bomb from last season. I would love a GIF of the K, just so I could feel the wrong being righted over and over again.

That fucking slider and that fucking sinker or change or whatever the hell it was he struck Goldschmidt out with. With both of those working and a 96-mph heater, fucking good luck hitting anything he throws you.

Changeup. Probably caught a little more plate than he intended and
really strange to see him throw it to a RHH, but maybe that was the genius of it. He's thrown it all of five times to RHH since the start of 2014 (twice against Goldschmidt).

From the way Montero's glove moved you can tell that it fooled him as well.

Backup change up. Happy accident. If he could get that movement consistently on that pitch, he'd be a hulked up Greg Maddux. I wonder if there is any thought to making him a starter considering his arsenal.

I believe he was once a highly touted prospect for the Indians as a starter, and then, like most guys who end up as closers, that was abandoned after he blew out his arm so many times the Cubs were able to nab him in the Rule V Draft.
So I'm going to guess no on that one.
EDITED WITH STUFF: yeah he made 101 starts in the minors from 2006-2009, and then made 13 total appearances in the minors from 2010-2012 before the Cubs claimed him in the Rule V draft in 2013 and let him suck for a year on a tanking team before he evolved into the bullpen God we know and love.

Love that Joe had to put him into a 9-0 game to get some work because the Cubs are winning games by too large a margin for him to get any save opportunities.

I noticed the other day that The Cubs have 14 wins (13 at the time) and Rondon only had 3 saves. I don't think it means anything but still struck me as kind of odd.
edit: I just opened the new post on Jesse Rogers' ESPN blog and, of course, the first paragraph mentions this exactly. Obviously, having the same thought as that dude clearly means my brain is mush.

Yeah, but you smoke a lot of herb. He's just that way.
Two groundballs with eyes, a sac bunt and sac fly = L.
Life as a high-leverage reliever must be stressful as hell. The bad batted-ball luck illustrates the need for a high K-rate in those roles, which thankfully, Hector has.
shitballs

I'm not superstitious, but I am a little stitious and so I was actually kind of okay with Hector giving up a run there on some bullshit BABIP luck to a shit ass team on a day when the Cards and Pirates had already lost anyway. This way he's good for another like 10-20 appearances in a row before he has to give up a run because #baseball.
I hope he doesn't have incentives tied to # of saves in his contract
That strikeout slider to Kemp was absolutely filthy.
My dude. Those were not competitive pitches at all. That 97-mph meatball to Cozart was one of the worst placed balls I've seen all year. Agonizing watching him struggle given how lights-out he used to be.
