Just noticed the NATO/G8 Summits and Occupy Chicago Riots are scheduled the same weekend as the Cubs-Sox series at Wrigley. While not even beginning to process what havoc this will mean to the NHL and NBA Playoffs, remember that the G8 Summits forced the Blue Jays to play their home series against the Phillies in Philadelphia a couple years ago. (http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/g8-g20/news/jays-phillies-series-moving-to-philadelphia/article1564925/)
For what it's worth, during the 1968 Democratic Convention, the Cubs were on the road, and the White Sox played their homestand at County Stadium, thus avoiding the invasion of Abbie Hoffman.
This is all kinds of awesome. Hopefully the White Sox have to travel across town and their bus gets overturned by crazed protesters who them maim the entire team and then 40 years later they'll make a bad movie about it starring Matthew McConaughey.
Did anyone just notice that his name has 'ghey' at the end? That's funny.

My God, the movie potential is amazing. Call it "Don't Stop Believin'". Heck, maybe your beloved Glee cast would sing on the movie soundtrack. I'm starting to feel a movie poster coming on...

Brewers host the Twins. Thus, Target Field is available. I didn't check on the urinal cake II.
Houston, as some sort of karmic payback?
The answer is Wrigley Field!

I think we should still riot and loot and set shit off here in Chicago regardless. Why should we miss out on all the fun?
Darn. Mrs. Cubbieblue and I will be in Chicago that weekend and were looking forward to a nice riot.

Correct. We can all get hacked off at the other G8 nations, but it would be awful to even consider protesting against a group that calls Poland and Denmark as members.
A noted Chicago baseball expert notes that the northern suburbs will be secure, (http://winnetka.patch.com/articles/suburban-cops-prepping-for-nato-summit-3e01437a?ncid=newsltuspatc00000001) possibly making Duke Childs Field in Winnetka an option?
Wow. Is Diamond Gems dead, replaced by calls to sleepy suburban police departments who confuse Queen Elizabeth driving down Dempster with Lady Di's motorcade going down Dempster?
I think this is as good a thread as any to make the NATO clusterfuck thread. Fight in Bridgeport between a bunch of anarchists and 80-year-old Sox fans (it's a shame a side had to lose) last night during a protest March gone bad. The closure of the CHICAGO RIVER! The Fox Lake Metra Station featuring tighter security than Ben Guiron Airport.
My wife getting Monday and possibly Friday off because she works in the Equitable Building while the absence of threats to Niles means I have to work both days.
NATO leaders possibly threatening to break away from any alliance with the U.S. and nuke us to the stone age after being forced to watch in person the Cubs (Dempster 0-1) vs. the White Sox (Danks 2-4) with the meatballs in full glory.
Anyone planning on attending any of those games? Anyone planning on leaving town? Anyone (I'm looking at you J. Walter Weatherman) planning to protest?
