QuoteThe Cubs felt it was necessary to make this move because of payroll constraints, and they felt comfortable with their depth on the pitching staff after acquiring starter Matt Garza from the Rays.

FYI, Gorzelany made $800,000 last year.  Man, is payroll tight!

I think it was more about already having plenty of starting pitching depth and also getting some prospects back.  One report has this guy coming back, which would be a pretty decent return for Gorzo.

Hendry's had himself a pretty nice offseason so far.

Looking at Burgess' strikeout-to-walk ratio made me throw up in my mouth.

Tom Gorzellany

Poor Tom wasn't even a Cub long enough to get his name spelled right in the farewell thread.

His walks are fine, if not good - he's walking more than 10% of the time, which is all you can ask for.  Those strikeouts, though.  Holy shit.
Your toilet's broken, Dave, but I fixed it.

Seems as good a thread as any.

Probably a waiter or waitress.

What an asshole.

So, if the Mariners are able to void his contract, does that mean they win the Silva/Bradley trade?

This. He'll always be one of my all-time favorites and a reminder to enjoy the performances of great players while you can because in this game you aren't promised tomorrow.

Man, I miss the 20056 version.

Unless Chuck really means the season in which he missed the Super  Bowl, the 2005 run-up to that year was clearly teh Year of teh Tommie.
Just a sloppy, undisciplined team.  Garbage.
