What Fork's trying to say is that the Tigers used Lance Parrish to set up the pass.

Fork doesn't need your facts. He watched exactly 2 Tigers games in the 80s.

To be fair Piazza's weak defensive reputation as a catcher (as evidence by the positive dWAR most years) was because he couldn't throw very well. That's become far less important nowadays in favor of focusing on blocking and framing, which is allegedly where Kyle has his issues.

Also to be fair, Schwarber probably won't be the best offensive catcher ever. I know you were all saying he would be, so I wanted to bring things back down to Earth.

So you're saying that there are going to be a lot of rumors about Schwarber being gay?

Well now you're just being Cubs Troll Eli, again. Piazza's minor league OPS (.868) was well below what Schwarber has done (1.042) so I don't see why we wouldn't logically assume he's better than Piazza in that department. It's science.

I would find it seriously awesome if the first openly gay MLB player was a 250 LB monster of a catcher.

Fear not, Kyle Schwarber was educated at the Harvard of Monroe County, so learning quickly and effectively will not be a problem.

I imagine if Schwarber is passable behind the plate and Montero comes back in September and hits well, there's no way David Ross makes the playoff roster.

I'm in a fantasy league and slipping out of the race when someone who was in a similar position as I decided he needed to "win now" and coveted my starting catcher, Jonathan LuCroy. He offered Carlos Rodon and Kyle Schwarber during last Sunday's ballgame. I accepted, and now stand a decent chance of getting a better producing catcher AND a starting pitcher, both of which are keepers for next year.
