I haven't looked at his actual numbers, but he strikes me as a +VORP short-term fill in for KB.
Hopefully that GW BB will be a good memory to get him through the rest of the Iowa summer.

He's basically Tommy LaStella with a bit more pop. It's hard to see where the Cubs have room for him in the long run, so I guess he's trade bait who could find a utility man or even maybe a full-time gig on a shitty team.

I agree. He's basically less-good Candelario, so when the Cubs make their deadline move(s?) I'd expect Bote to be gone.

Well, it'll be a New Day in his career.
Bump

Beats me, even the Cubs used it ("Bote Bote Walkin" after his GW walk), so it's pretty much a tap-in, and about all the effort a backup infielder requires.
Now if we're talking Bote
Drafted a perfect one, so put it on me
Swear it won't take you long
If you hit it right
We cheer for life
On and on and on
His walk-up music sure beats the shit out of Zobrist's.

That's actually the first one I thought of, but way too obvious. Besides, New Day > Black Eyed Peas.
They're both pretty fucking awful.
Shit thread title aside, bump for some outstanding Major League plays at third today.

"Bump"? I do not think that word means what you think it means.
David Bote is now leading the major leagues (http://m.mlb.com/statcast/leaderboard#avg-hit-velo) in avg. exit velocity.
How's his defense at second?
DAVID FUCKING BOTE
That was unreal. He killed that ball and his helmet!

He's missing the Iowa State Fair, just so he can hit walk-off, 2-out, 2-strike grand slams in Chicago. Talk about some backwards priorities.
(To be fair, I don't think any of us were anticipating KB spending the better part of 2 months on the DL)

Turn and face the strange changes.

I just don't see how he keeps it up, and have my sights on him being exactly that--a RHH LaStella. I'd be happy if he regresses--like we all expect, to varying degrees--but plateaus at "righty hitter who can occasionally rip the fuck out of a meatball".

It's kind of bonkers.
On the one hand, his .393 BABIP and his results so far are way over his skis and no way he can keep them up.
On the other hand, his Exit velo is elite so far and his xwOBA (.428) is actually higher than his actual wOBA (.392) and may be evidence that he's actually underperforming his peripherals?
Fuck this...I have no idea. I'll just enjoy the show.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with being LaStella with more pop and better defense. No sign of LaStella's slightly delicate sensibilities, either. I'll take that every day of the week.
