Anybody seen this version (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087803/)? Currently available for instant watchery on Netflix. Pretty faithful adaptation, and Richard Burton just pwns as O' Brien.

Yes, I have.
It was good.
Burton croaked before the movie was released, IIRC.
Watched it once, a long time ago, but I also only read the book once, also a long time ago. Thanks for reminding me to re-read the book.

One other thing I forgot to mention. I don't remember this from the book, but apparently women are not allowed to shave in Oceania. Julia has an absolutely enormous bush in this movie.

I have no idea why this, of all RV posts, has made me laugh out loud.

Because you envisioned a chick with a huge black bush. There's nothing not funny about that.

Yeah...between that and the half naked John Hurt...while it's a pretty awesome and faithful recreation of the book, this movie is a total boner killer. I mean, I didn't watch it Expecting to get one, but, uncomfortable nonetheless.
The great Desipio bush debate?

I told you, already. If they ain't black, they ain't pubes. If you have trouble telling the difference, then just remember this rhyme:
If that hair is short, curly, and black, then a pube it must be.
If that hair is short, curly, and any color OTHER than black, then a pube it must NOT be.
It rhymes and is truer than thou falling star's path may it be-ith.
