Was I just being obtuse when skimming through thread titles in here, or is there really not one about outstanding beef burgers?

Five Guys on Clybourn, just south of Southport. In-N-Out type chain, just opened a couple months ago. Great burger, better fries.

I don't know nothin' 'bout no In-N-Out or nuthin', but I can certainly vouch for Five Guys.

The burger is very good.  The regular burger is great, but definitely fast food-type, which is what you're looking for when you eat here anyway.  The fries are awesome.  The regular ones are good, the Cajun ones are also good.  By the time we tried the Cajun ones, we were pretty full.

The menu is very limited.  Burgers and hot dogs.  Burgers can be gotten as a junior (single) or regular.  Both the burgers and the hot dogs come with optional bacon and/or cheese.  I think they also have a veggie burger, but I can't imagine anyone ordering one.  I mean, why?  If you're a vegetarian, they also have grilled cheese.  But, again, why?  Unless you're 12.

They also have a huge condiment selection, all of which is included in the burger.  They have the usual, but you can also get mushrooms, grilled onions, bbq sauce.  They also have jalapenos.  I was expecting the canned/jarred ones, but no!  They're fresh.

I may have just told everyone what they already knew.  I don't care.  This place is good.  I positive (are we still saying that?).

Bump.  Looks like a Five Guys will be opening up at the southwest corner of Clark and Fullerton any day now.  It's on my route to work, so I'm looking forward to giving it a shot.

Huey is looking for some sweet five guy on guy action at the corner of Clark and Fullerton on his way to work?

You can't see me, BH, but I'm nodding my head with a sly grin on my face.  Uh, huh!
I think he's more of the appendix of Desipio.  Yeah, it's here and you're vaguely aware of it, but only if reminded.  The only time anyone notices it is when it ruptures (on Weebs in the video game thread).  Beyond that, though, it's basically useless and offers no redeeming value.

The Counter on Diversey just west of Clark...very good burgers and shakes, and solid fries. But if you're just a simple douche like myself who wants a bacon cheeseburger and doesn't really care about dozens of high-falutin' toppings like salsa and pineapple, go to Five Guys instead.

Five Guys just opened here in town too...  For about 10 bucks... big burger, TONS of fries and a drink.  Fries are pretty damn good; burger ain't too shabby.

They're being pretty aggressive here.  In addition to the one that recently opened at Clark and Fullerton, there's another one on Sheridan, just north of Devon by Loyola's campus.

OK, that locks up my dinner arrangements for Wednesday.

The Bad Apple on Lincoln has a burger with pulled pork and onion rings on top of it. It tasted good and I enjoyed eating it. They also have a large variety of beers that you can drink.

Did you ever go?

I went to the one on Clark and Fullerton a few weeks ago.  Yummy.  Be sure to note that an original is a double cheeseburger, so don't get 2 unless you're fucking famished.

Finally had dinner at Five Guys. The burger was pretty good, definitely not the best. But good. The fries, however, were awesome. And I put a shitload of malt vinegar on them. Major pro move.

Will go back.

Malt vinegar, baby.  You're all right, Slak.

Ate at Rootstock last night.

The menu isn't huge, but what they have is outstanding, especially the cured meats, burger and the pork shoulder.
The best burger I've had in years.

And they have Matilda on tap and about 150 other bottled beers, lots of specialty run stuff.
Known more for their selections of wine.

They even have bacon toffee, which was magical.

Cool place, if you hate hipsters you might not like it. California clipper is right down the road for drinks after. Or the Continental if it's late.

Dude, we're not going to Columbus to eat a burger.
