Can't put a price on advice like this.

"The best piece of Abreu advice?

"Swing at more pitches in the strike zone, and you have a better chance of getting hits," Hunter said. "I've been doing that.""

If Milton had just said that to Miles, Soto, Soriano, Fontenot, Blanco, Hill, Freel, Scales, Gathwright and Hoffpauier, the Cubs would be right in this one!

BB continues to be a big fan. From Sully's blog:

Now check out what Brenly said to WSCR-AM 670 about Bradley during an interview on the Cubs-Sox game on Thursday morning.:

"The bottom line is, just get the job done. He can point fingers and assign blame wherever he wants and laugh in the face of critics that he can swing the bat from the left side and he can stay healthy, but do it all year long, don't just do it for a month of the season and proclaim yourself the guy we were looking for. I think Milton Bradley is a much better offensive player then we've seen this year, I just think he's allowed too many distractions to get between his ears, I think he incorrectly blames everybody else for making him the lightning rod. Well if you don't want to be the lightning rod, then don't stand on the roof in a thunderstorm with a 1 iron in your hand .... Don't call it upon yourself, and I think with some of his comments, he's done that."

Instead of swinging at a close pitch with a 3-1 count and the bases loaded to drive in runs, he'd rather spin in and take a walk. I saw it too many times this year. More concerned about drawing a walk. It did wonders for his batting average and RBI, didn't it?

I've spewed about this in the SBox before, so I'm not going to go into full rant mode, but I think my biggest issue with Milton is that he somehow always manages to make himself the story. This isn't about his performance at all, but even here...this thread is 49 pages long for a guy who has been, by all accounts, basically right about equal value for his contract this year at this point.

I didn't look back too far, but to put in perspective, the Aramis thread is 12 pages. The Lilly thread is 11 pages and the OMFG I LOVE YOU KERRY WOOD thread is 18 pages.

Combined those 3 guys have gotten less of our attention and time that Milton has in the 5 months he's played baseball for the Cubs.

Fuck Milton and his stupid Kurt Evans-like ability to make it all about him.
I can't believe I even know these people. I'm ashamed of my internet life.

The Aramis thread is short because no one disagrees that he's the shit.

The Lilly thread is short because we try not to tempt fate.

As for Kerry Wood, a quick and unscientific search finds over 60 separate threads around here with his name in the title.

Stone pulled a big fat I Told You Idiot Cub Fans so in stating he was right all along when he said early this year that Derrek Lee would have a great season. I heard this on the Score. No evidence of him telling anyone that Lee was going to have a great year, but what do I know?
