OK A-holes.  It's fixed.  Enjoy the orange links, because I have no fucking idea how to change them.  I basically learned scripting in four days to fix this damned thing. - Andy

Ron Santo was scratched from today's broadcast.

Roy Oswalt has requested a trade. Go get 'em, Kenny!

I have nothing bad to say about Ron-DL White, Cliff Floyd or even Marquis de Suc, so I guess it sucks they were scammed.

However, doesn't it brighten your day to know that Todd Hundley's millions he stole from the Cubs were in turn stolen from him?

And also, Gregg Jefferies. I fucking hated Gregg Jefferies worse than cancer.

The NCAA Tournament gets four play-in games! Weeeeeeeee!

But buried in the lede is news that TBS, Tru and TNT get a piece of the tourney with CBS.

Maybe Chip Caray and Billy Packer can pair up for a few games?

Anyone care to note how stupid it is to "honor" Jackie Robinson by having everyone wear the same number?

1) It's a shallow gesture. To me, it almost reeks of Buddyboy convincing himself he's not a racist.
2) It makes life difficult for Pat Hughes who is trying to figure out who's doing what out there (who's up in the bullpen, who's pinch-hitting, etc.)
3) Are you really honoring Jackie by allowing Ryan Theriot or Jeff Samardzija to wear No. 42?

Doesn't this make as much sense as letting another guy from an era of shitty ND football pitch?

Desipio Lounge / Ricketts Family Annoyance Thread

Shut up until your investment owns a World Series title. Something about them makes me a little nervous. Can't put my finger on it, but I give it until June when Mike D. will begin wishing Andy MacPhail or Don Grenesko or John Madigan still ran the club.

Fuck it. Joe Ricketts will lead Mitt Romney to the White House and then crankily take over the Cubs from his children and within 60 days have them into a 1927 Yankees-esque juggernaut before running for Mayor of Chicago in 2 1/2 years and crushing Rahm in a landslide.

Goddamn it. I like J. Joseph Ricketts the best, and I think he'd lead the franchise to great things. Alas, Tom, Todd, Laura and Pete have only 50% of his DNA.

Desipio Lounge / White Sox logic

It's perfectly reasonable to expect the fine patrons of Chicago hotels coming in to spend a night or two so they can take in a few Cubs' games or attend theater or go to any of the fine street festivals or shop on the mag mile or conduct business in one of the world's financial centers to subsidize the White Sox' stadium. But it's reprehensible that a guy in Glendale who gets lost looking for meth and winds up buying a $10 ticket to a White Sox-Royals split squad game to have one dollar go to build the Cubs a new stadium.

I hate subsidized sports complexes, but isn't this "Cubs tax" more of a user fee than the Reinsdorf-Big Jim Thompson deal that taxed the shit out of hotels to pay for Comiskular (and later Soldier Field)?

I had to put up with shitty baseball, a terrible arm in right field, a guy who didn't get on base enough, and a last place ballclub. But through it all, I managed to perform well at my job.

Jacque Jones "proud" of overcoming Cubs' ordeal?

Fuck you, Jock.

I can't handle Santo's groans and moans and doddering-old-man bit anymore. It's tiresome, it's irritating, it's not illuminating (a good call that goes against the Cubs is as protested as a legit bad call), and I'm burned out.

I know Mike D. agrees to some extent, but I'm also at the point where I'll listen to the opposing team on my phone instead of listening to Santo. In fact, that's maybe what I'll do for the weekend series. Scully for the first 3 innings followed by Charley Steiner and great American (and former Cub) Rick Monday sounds a lot better than Santo's sad sack bit along with 8 innings of Hughes and 1 inning of Bob Sirrott's nephew.

This team wouldn't get any runs after a steady diet of E-coli-tainted White Castle, ExLax and Mexican tap water.
