Crain's tells you what to do when the action on the field at Wrigley isn't making you suicidal enough.

Find him in his season seat down the left-field line just steps from the foul pole, and ask him about his favorite moments at the Friendly Confines. But not while there's action on the field — he keeps a sharp scorecard.

Al's favorite moment is probably Jason Schmidt's one-hitter.

The Sun-Times sports website.  Apparently I have now used up my 20 free watching days and if I want to continue to have access to their brilliance I must pay for it.  Should I pay for it?  That decision took me less than 10 seconds to make.
If I had known that I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of myself.   (Plagerized from numerous other folks)

I'll take "Tortured Analogies" for $500, Alex.

Yes, it seems one species can evolve into another, even the Ursus family.

Screw signing up for a free account to make this stop. I'd probably be willing to pay them to make it continue.

How horrible and empty is your life if you haven't missed a home game for these sacks of shit in four years? Fuck.

Thank you, Wikipedia:

QuoteKummel is consumed in large quantities (mainly in golf clubs) across Europe and notably the UK with suppliers main focus in Scotland where its marketed as an after dinner liqueur. The smoothness and the natural release of jubilation involved in consumption has led to some golfers using it to enhance their golf game by taking a couple of mouthfuls before a round to relax first tee nerves. Some may even indulge in a streak or bullet which are a mix of kummel and vodka or gin respectively endorsed by top selling brand Wolfschmidt. The latter are normally reserved for the golfers with high anxiety on the first tee or those who have been duly fined for pre set out reasons in the annual Kummel Invitational held twice a year at The Nairn Golf Club and once at a specially selected 'away tour' course.[/url]

QuoteWood made one mistake, giving up a 3-run homer to Jeff Bianchi in the second inning on a 3-0 pitch. It was Bianchi's first major-league home run. Bianchi briefly was property of the Cubs last winter.

I don't think grooving a 3-0 pitch to a shitty hitter is a mistake. Those guys rarely have the green light.

Falling behind 3-0 with two on seems like a litany of mistakes to me.

Maybe he was using the balls to set up the strikes.

Yeah, except if Miles is pointing to a 3-0 get-me-over to a number 8 hitter as his "only mistake", then his analysis is somewhat wanting.

Except that 99% of the time he's red-lighted on 3-0. Just getting it over isn't especially smart when you're pitching to Ryan Braun, but this was Jeff Bianchi.
